One of those jaywalkers hit my truck. The damage included a fender, grille, radiator, bumper, side marker light, and hood. Fortunately a dna sample was found for any future prosecution as the deer left hairs in between the front tire and the rim.
All I know is that jaywalker was tired. Had I realized the jaywalker would get up and leave the scene of the accident they would have also been exhausted after I backed over them.
I had to fill in a report. I had to be as honest as possible.
"I was sideswiped after dark by a jaywalking deer that was not wearing reflective clothing.
The deer then left the scene of the accident against state law."
I only tried to tell the complete truth about what happened. I think I got it right.
