The best position for the dashcam, is velcro on the dashboard.

But this means that when played back, the picture is up side down.

Anyone know of a PC program that correct the image?

"AVIDemux" is a freeware tool that will most probably be able to do the job. Choose which video and audio codec you want, and what kind of format to save it as, and under "filter" you can enable "Rotate" and choose 180 degrees. You can also select a start and endpoint to only save a portion of a clip, or append clips to fuse clips in 1 long movie.

EDIT: Also, if you use VLC player, you can go to preferences, effects, and rotate the image there. Although this will only flip the image when playing back in VLC and will not save it (so if you copy the file elsewhere or play it with another media player it will be upside down again, to rotate it permanently you need to use AVIDemux)

The higher the camera the closer to the front of the car it will see as the bonnet will obscure a fair bit when you are about to run into something LOL

Must be something in it as 99.9% of makers advise to position at top of the windscreen

Velcro also allows movement as its not rigid Far better to use 3M dual lock which is a similar product but much more rigid and doesnt allow camera to vibrate.

Have learnt from 2 years experience of fitting and using dashcams
