Is a Dash Cam my best option?

I just want to give everyone here the break down as to why I ask whether or not a Dash Cam is my best option. I know the screens the super small, but from what I gather, there are a few good cameras(like GoPro's, technically not a dash cam) that can have the HD video streamed to an external monitor.

I have a condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis. My neck is fully fused. I am unable to turn my head the slightest bit. I can't move it up, down, or to either side. So to put it simply, when at stop signs, I can not turn my head to see traffic coming from the left or right. Now my vocational rehab driving specialist tried to get me to use those mirrors like 18 wheelers and a school bus use, but those mirrors distort the oncoming traffic. They make them appear further away than they actually are.

I've tried using flush mount cameras and a few other tiny cameras that stream to external monitors. They're mostly RCA/VGA type cameras. The quality is extremely bad. I don't feel safe on the road and I certainly don't feel others are safe and that's my main priority.

I'm wondering if there are some great HD quality cameras, like dash cams or anything else that someone can recommend, that can be streamed live to an external monitor. I currently use a 9" external monitor with blind spot cameras, and they work great. I'm planning on installing a 2nd 9" monitor and that way I can have a camera displayed on 1 monitor looking left and a 2nd displayed on a monitor looking right.

So that's why I ask if a dash cam is the best option. There are some really great HD dash cameras from what I saw. I'm curious if any of those can be streamed live via a HDMI cable to an external monitor? Recording or not recording doesn't really matter. I can always buy a separate dash cam to record for driving safety and accidental purposes, but my main priority right now is getting it setup so I can officially drive again.

So with that being said, are there dash cams that can do what I'm looking for? Is it the best option considering the quality from those RCA/VGA cameras are poor? Can anyone recommend suggestions? I would greatly appreciate any help.

Two SGZC12RC with external water proof cameras might be a good solution. The main monitor units can be placed on your dashboard above the steering wheel.

Those are some pretty nice cameras, but the screens are only 2.7" which isn't very big. Will be hard to see how far away the traffic is. My goal is to get some great cameras, preferrably HD quality, streamed to an external monitor roughly 7 -9" for the screen size, if possible. I've been using a 9" monitor and tried using left/right in split screen mode, but the size is small enough it's real hard to see if it's clear. Granted, it is with rca quality cameras, which aren't the best. I just can't imagine a 2.7" screen would be big enough to see for sure it's clear. Is it possible to get them streamed to a bigger external monitor?

While the recording itself is in beautiful Full HD, The video output is only RCA composite unfortunately. (no HDMI ports)

Maybe two small JooVuu X cameras might work. Let me check how the micro HDMI video out cable works. It has wifi too for full smart phone access.

Yeah but the wifi on the X cam like so many other have a large lag to it.
I dont think the cameras with HDMI output have that live when they record, only think that one is live in case you use the camera for playback.
I have nothing that can go into my X cam so i cant test that out for you.

I think analog cameras can make a okay picture for somthing like this, but offcourse you cant go with the cheapest camera with only 320 lines of resolution, you will need to get good 700 tv lines or better.
The 700 lines cameras i had on my old 4 channel setup wasent bad, but compared with 1080p then was offcourse a whole other game.

JooVuu X has micro HDMI out for live (non lag) video viewing. The wifi would only be used to playback something after the fact or change settings.
I need to confirm it works for you, stand by. (just got the video out cables in I think actually)

if it has a webcam mode would be fine, it doesn't really need to record for this purpose but a bonus if it can in case the footage was needed

This camera looks very high quality according to feed examples on YouTube. I know the quality might change based on streaming it through the Micro HDMI cord. I've found a nice 7" HDMI display monitor for cars that most people use for head displays for back seats. I can't definitely get 2 of those monitors if this JooVuu X can stream live HD feed to these monitors. I need to know for sure though if it can in fact live stream HDMI feed to the monitors so I can see left and right.

I've already invested over $1000 in new equipment to help me drive again. Back up camera, a new stereo system that supports the backup camera. Blind spot detection system. An 18" wide rear view mirror. A few other things too to make sure everyone is safe with me driving. I just need to finish off this upgrade to my car by getting some great cameras. So please let me know about the JooVuu X. I did contact the website for more information to make sure too.

If you have other recommendations for other cameras, by all means let me know. I thought about mounting some GoPro Hero4 Black cameras on the dash looking left and right because I know they can stream according to my friend who has one himself for a dash cam lol because of all the video footage he does for his job. But anyway, thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate it more than you can imagine. I've not had much luck with other websites.

Ok very good, stand by. I didn't make it into the main office today but will test out JooVuu X + HDMI tomorrow. I'll record a little video of the test so you can see it in action. We'll find you a solution ! :)

That would be awesome if you could use some other camera recording the JooVuu X being hooked up to some external HD monitor and actually displaying live feed. Maybe move the camera around while it's hooked up and show the live feed changing as you move the camera. That would be terrific if you could manage that kinda footage giving me the definite answer it's possible. I don't need to order tonight or even tomorrow. So if you could get me this info whenever ya can, would be very thankful.

Good News! It looks like the JooVuu X plus optional micro HDMI video out will be a great solution. (I'll add that accessory to our site shortly, will show up on the Pier28 JooVuu X product in the upper left)
You can aim one to the left and one to the right and have two small 1080P monitors.

I was looking at getting a front facing dash cam now that I have a truck; I don't trust that something isn't down below the hood being so high up. I cam across this:

It's a front facing camera that gives you 2 points of view, you may have to google the brand to see the image I'm talking about, but it basically points out in a V. I THINK it can be hooked up to a basic RCA monitor, though I only started looking at today and got side tracked with other truck mods.

The BOYO Vision VTB110N is just a run of the mill composite low resolution camera, don't think it will suite @Kailef 's request to have something in higher resolution. 1080P is the way to go in 2016 minimum.

This is good to know for myself as well. A camera that has the same feature for field of view would be good, if only in HD.

It says it's a front camera so the image would be as needed. Unlike reverse cameras which wouldn't work (unless you could flip the image.)

I plan to wire a front facing camera to a switch so I can confirm no small children or animals have walked in front of my bumper. That camera might not be HD, but it could be hooked up to say a double din stereo with screen.

Same as a reverse camera, just the image is flipped, we have this feature in all our reverse cameras so they can be used front or rear rather than having separate models

I saw that, there is one I'm interested in i found om your site, have to see if it's for sale here in the US. The boyo one says it's 720 HD, but I'm on my phone and have a harder time researching to confirm.
