Hello all, my trusty 0801 had been coming up with the error message about failing to write/needing recovery on startup which I believe is caused by the battery being dud.

I removed the battery from it and soldered in one I had in the bits box from a mini quadcopter.

However I'm worried that the new one I soldered in, which works perfectly, might not be protected.

So does anyone know if the original 0801 batteries are overcharge-protected on the battery or is this performed by the unit itself?

Thanks in advance all. :)

I'm not sure now.

Spotted this on the original battery, looks like some sort of circuitry.

The little mini one at the top that I replaced it with didn't have this.

I ordered this one from Amazon that might be more suitable as it looks much closer to the original.

when they have that type of circuit and your replacement battery doesn't join the leads on the other side of the circuit and keep that in place

Quick update to say that I believe this Amazon one IS indeed protected. However I may have opened up my 0801 too many times and messed up the little mount power cable lol!
