Is the Vantrue OnDash S1 wiring compatible with any Viofo units?

My friend bought a Toyota Sienna and it came with a VanTrue OnDash S1 wired in, albeit with a cigarette lighter, they did run the wire down the A pillar and to a rear camera. Any idea if this wiring is compatible with Viofo 2 channel units? The quality could be better but I'm glad she has something.

Nope (Vantrue to Viofo). Companies use their own proprietary cabling. Consider upgrading to the N4 Pro S or S1 Pro Max. @Jeff_Vantrue for whether or not the Ondash S1 cabling can be reused with either camera.

Aww dang, thanks. I thought maybe they used USB-C.

The only cable that's USB-C is the power cable on some newer cameras. Everything else is proprietary cabling from Front to Rear. Each company designs their own and cables can differ from model to model.

That may not be universally true. When I was testing an S1 I used this cable for the rear camera connection and it worked just fine.

Viofo Cables are not compatible with Vantrue what so ever (per ops question). Generally, a lot of manufacturers utilize their own proprietary designs. The A129 Duo Cable won't work with the A139 Pro and the A139 Pro needs an adapter to work with the A329S/T Series.

Likewise, there are some cameras that do use the same cabling on Vantrue and other's that don't. I.E. N4 Pro S cable FITS into the N5S but is NOT compatible. Not all channels will appear and I forget the other issues encountered.

You're right it isn't universally true, but it's more common than not that manufacturers change cables across models due to data transport needs and it's unlikely one brand works with another.

Well...it is hit or miss and depends on the pinout and whether the far-end device is digital or analog. In short, it is better to stick with the wiring that comes with the camera you purchased. The only difficult part about the Sienna would be at the rear where the hatch is. If there is already a rear cam there, then just follow suit with the rewire.

Since you already have a VanTrue product in the van, I'd ask @Jeff_Vantrue about the wiring and stick with VanTrue if possible.

Hi sir,
The rear camera cable of the VantrueOnDash S1 is incompatible with the camera on the Viofo.
