Just bought a Mini 0803, perhaps too hastily...

Stick with the 0803, or send it back and order the 0806?

So I just bought a Mini 0803 from EPRANCE via Amazon for £70 after watching this TechMoan video. Since then I've started reading up on it (I know, I know, I should have done that first, but it was late and I was excited by the review). So it seems there's already an 0805, and the 0806 is very much on the immediate horizon. Should I return it and get the latest & greatest (albeit for £30 more)? Or will the 0803 prove to be great value for money, as it's tried & tested?

Also, I bought a new 32gb micro-SD based on the spec, as I only have 64gb cards in my stash of spare memory and have now read it's actually capable of taking a 64gb card. Is this confirmed?

Best regards,

Val.

0803 has been a bit of a problem model, 0805 and 0806 are closely related and do work much better, they each still have room to improve though

Interesting. I've read about the loose mount issue, but that seems to have been fixed with a more sturdy mount since sometime last year. Also the freezing on startup and mute button bug I know of. Are there any other problems this site's review doesn't cover?

Ah yes I saw that in the review too, but it suggested this was resolved by a heat-sink added last summer? Is overheating still a problem for the later 0803's? If so, I think I'll definitely send it back and get the 0806.

if you have the option then the 0806 is a better proposition, still not perfect but at least there's active development, 0803 is end of life by natural attrition

Fair play, thanks. I'll see if EPRANCE will accept a return.

There is a good chance that you already have an 0805 as that is what EPrance has been sending out to most people recently - check the resolutions available, if it has a 21:9 cinema mode then it is an 0805.

You need to format your 64 GB cards as FAT32 format on your computer before use.

Interesting, thanks. It hasn't actually arrived yet (due next week) - shipped internationally I assume. Will check it then before raising a return - thanks for the tip!

Just rescieved mine.. I ordered an 803. Paid about $100 for it.
Under Resolutions I have these options.

2560 x 1080 30p 21:9 | 2304 x 1296 30p 16:9 | 1920 x 1080 45p | 1920 x 1080 30p 16:9 | HDR 1920 x 1080 30p 16:9 | 1280 x 720 60p 16:9 | 1280 x 720 30p 16:9

Does that mean I have an 805? My Firmware version is FW 20150208 V1.0

Also which 1080p resolution would you recomend I use ? What is the difference between 1920x1080 and HDR1920x1080

Thanks.
Ken

those resolutions aren't possible with the 0803

Thanks... I looked a little more after I posted and found my firmware number under the 805 list... its at the top... and newest listed. Good I guess.

Any suggestions on what the difference is between HDR 1080p and regular 1080P?

Thanks
Ken
