Just had a DR650GW-2CH fitted to our Car, its a new car (Rav 4 Hybrid). Chap installed and showed that it was powered and left. So not had a chance to test and pair up the phone. My wife jumped in the car an hour later, switched on the ignition and it powered down!!! Now it seems dead, car power on/off, engine on or off it wont power. Wife mentioned the camera was very hot(is this normal?).

Phoned the company who fitted and they kept insisting that we try and pair our phone up to check, not sure they grabbed the concept of no power.

Also, since the install the car is making as my wife describes it, a funny electrical noise that wasn't there before it was fitted, concerned they may have done something wrong.... Well known web company with good reviews, so hope its been done right....

Anyone had similar experiences?

Hi Lee

These cams are not difficult to install, and the firm that installed yours should have given you a demonstration of the camera actually working - also pairing up with your phone, smart pad etc.

There have been problems with using non-Blackvue SD cards!!

Has it been installed with a PMP, via the fuse box? Perhaps that could be the problem.

The camera does get hot, caused by heat from the windscreen and the camera actually running.

The "well known web company with good reviews" that installed your cam are responsible for rectifying any faults, which you clearly have. Insist they sort it out.

Good luck

John

Thanks John,

It seems the installer set the cut of at around 24 volts , flipped it over to 12.5 and it started working, disappointed they fitted and didn't even demo but there you go, it's all working.

Irrespective of the dip switch settings on your PMP, your cam should have worked when you switched on your ignition.
