10 years, many dashcams
Well guys i now have the updated hardware, but some gremlins have allso crawled into APP and firmware, so ATM i am not able to go full Stanley Kubrick on behalf of you guys.
But worry not, i will do all i can do as soon as i can.

Just did a little run to do a little shopping, the recording here is 1080/60 - 10046kbps ( think thats LOW bitrate )
Anyway this is primarily for you to see how quick the camera do a GPS lock on ( hot boot ) after my 5 minutes or so shopping.

In regard to cold boot time for the GPS i think you should count on somthing like a minute, but be warned i have not done much testing in this regard yet.
If i experience any mentionable changes i will offcourse forward the knowlege.

Nice job on the video.

Can we see some raw evening/night footage?

Lac

I hear a very high pitch noise, do you know what that is? It not music or car I refer to.
I don't see any gps cordinate, is that way you have setup the cam.

Yes i too hear some noise from the microfone.
The GPS cordinates can be there too i think, i seem to recall i have seen 2 rows of zeroes in other recordings with the old hardware.
personally i would not need those, they annoy the hell out of me when i se them on panorama cameras.

I will lay low the rest of the day, seen like one of my headaches have been sneaking up on me.

Thanks, Please take care of you self. Take a long rest.

Well...maybe changing to some more relaxing music could ease your headache:rolleyes:

Okay guys here is a little somthing for you, bitrate is still stuck in lowest setting so no need to comment on video footage, ambarella chipsets ( all of them i think ) seem to prefer high bitrates to be able to make the best possible footage.

Anyways here is for you enjoyment a little flick that prove how fast GPS lock on when cold.

BTW in regard to the GPS mine is just wedged in between my headliner and the windscreen/roof, so only 50% of the GPS housing can be seen from the outside.

Next up is microfone performance, this is me at the drive thru at MCD.
I should have turned the camera to face the window cuz the girl there ( soft-spoken ) was quite cute, but young enuff to be my grandchild.
While making this recording the camera was powered by my USB power bank to make sure there is no PSU noise to aggravate your sensible hearing.

Here is 4 clips made with the 4 FOV modes the x cam offer, each drive start and end the same place so you can compare the 4 modes, allso i drive the same route in each clip.
As this is just FOV demo i will not upload the RAW files, allso please note this is still at the lowest bitrate and on youtube so dont mind the "poor" IQ
Allso this is at dusk, and allready here all dashcams start to struggle with capturing licenceplates on moving and roadside parked cars.

All recordings made with 1080/60 setting.

60 degree FOV.

90 degree FOV.

120 degree FOV.

155 degree FOV.

I like videos that are filmed in not so optimal conditions. Gives me a better idea how it may, or may not perform. Nice job

Yeah just about any camera can make good footage in sunshine, the ultimate challenge for dashcams is this kind of weather / light and night time.

Here is a little updated footage, today i was shooting in 2304x1296/30 at 23000kbps bitrate.

This resolution dont seem to be supported by youtube, and so it only appear as 1920x1080/30.
Was uploading RAW 3 minute files, and same files can be downloaded from MEGA.

Be advised there might be a little ¤¤#"/&% language, so if you have kids around you, dont play too loud

As you can see we still have a fjew things to fix, i was not driving at 80MPH today, thats 130 KMH and thats overkill in a 80 zone.
Allso on the audio side there seem to be some static on my sample camera, its not bad, but it is there.

Looking at screen grabs, I see pretty bad compression artifacts. Is this the best quality?

hey @lacibaci
I see the artefacts on the first picture (already passed onto the firmware team) but the second one I don't? This could be because im on my phone though.

Cheers
Dan

@lacibaci did you also take these screen grabs from the raw footage or YouTube?

I see nothing like that in my computer, the great dane is just fine and i'm not talking about the dog.;)
Maybe check you video program/codecs.

The youtube footage is not stellar thats for sure, its too bad they dont seem to support the format i have recorded in.

The raw footage look better, but i think there is still room for improvement.

The recordings are made with HIGH IQ settings, and at the moment that is 22-23000kbps VBR.

The colors seem a bit over the top to me, they are fading now here in Denmark

Took the screen grabs from the raw footage. Using VLC on Linux.
