Per page 9 of the User Guide:

- Manual recording: when clicking the manual recording (MENU) button, the video is saved in the [manual] folder even without shocks, and the pre-10 seconds and post-20 seconds of viewo are recorded ans saved.

* You cannot operate the manual recording while recording the events
* The event recording is not operated when shock occurs while manually operating the recording.

I translate that to:

- When the MENU button is clicked, a video is saved to the "Manual" folder. The video is 30 seconds long and begins 10 seconds before the MENU button was clicked.

* Manual recording cannot be invoked while an Event recording is in progress.
* Event recording in response to shocks will not happen during the 30 seconds that a Manual recording is in progress.

But I must have it wrong, because all I get in the "Manual" folder are jpeg still images.

This actually works in that the file names on the .JPGs tell one where to look in the clips under "Always". In fact, I like it better because there's one less folder to look for clips in.

But I'm still wondering about my interpretation of the manual vs what is actually happening.

There is also the matter of the mysterious-looking file names e.g.:

ch1_0000_20130730_152918_025_37701_N_.avi (creation stamp 07/30/2013 15:29)
ch1_0001_20130730_154012_041_180937_N.avi (creation stamp 07/30/2013 15:43)

I'm thinking maybe there's a firmware update waiting for me somewhere....

??

To allow the video recording you must tick off the choice - ''enable image capturing by Emergency button''

I too operate a 7300G , gives great video.
