Hi all,

I have a vehicle that's often parked for many days and looking for a unit that has excellent parking mode recording facility with IR or a non IR with a light enhancing sensor.

Open to something that connects to can bus if needed or hardwired for power.

Thanks

For how many days vehicle will be parked?
Main issue for long parking recording will be battery draining.

AFAIK the longest recording dashcam in parking mode is the Vantrue T2. It is very low bitrate, has only fair video quality, and remains dormant until it senses relevant motion closeby with it's proximity-type sensor which is different than the usual visual motion detect scheme. Can operate like this at least a week, maybe more according to how many events activate it. Also in the running is the B1W which has the lowest normal current draw of any dashcam today. Good bitrate, good vids, parking mode may be up to 2 days with a good large car battery and minimal activation. This one uses g-sensor for parking protection.

Longer term parking is best done using a large powerbank or hardwire kit with selectable low voltage protection to avoid running the car battery down. Note that the T2 won't work with most powerbanks as those have current sensors which turn the powerbank off if they sense no usage, and the T2 draws so little power in parking mode it isn't recognized. Length of time with powerbanks depends on their capacity. Plus you'll have to recharge them after use which can take several hours.

Thanks for the replies it's often parked for 5 or 6 days. I have a second battery so that can easily provide the power so no concern there.
