Something like whatever TechMoan is using at 20:10 in http://www.techmoan.com/blog/category/car-dvr-dashcams.

The idea is that if I want to show somebody what the dashcam saw, I pull the SD card from the dashcam, insert it into the device, and browse for the file.

We would keep the device in the glove box with charger hooked into a switched source.

Requirements (maybe somebody can suggest more):

  • Show Date/Time created on file picklist (some cams don't incorporate timestamp into their file names)
    .
  • Accept standard-size SD cards
    .
  • Accept video input (useful for aiming cams that do not have screens)
    .
  • Not toast the battery if constantly connected to charger

My guess is that I am looking for some sort of el-cheapo DVD player - but not *too* el-cheapo...

??

that's a tablet style DVD player

Thanks!... "Tablet" got me on the right track and I think I'm homing in on something:

It probably doesn't do AVI input.... but that's not such a big deal... mainly I want to whip it out and see what's on a card.
