Lukas died again

I am a newbie so please be patient with me. I purchased a Lukas LK 7900 ACE from green sum because you guys all spoke well of it and the seller. I received quick delivery. I went to set it up and everything was in Korean including the viewer so I knew I could change to English but couldn't find out how. I emailed green sum and they told me to download English version of viewer which I did and the guidance lady also then started speaking to me in English. I installed on Friday and took it for a two hour drive. I forgot to mention I installed a San Disk Ultra SDXC 64Gb Card. I have today removed the card to check my videos to make sure picture is okay and position of camera is aligned properly. I discovered that it has recorded two videos at the start of two hour journey and then nothing till after I arrived and went out again. It then recorded four more over two days. The GPS did not find anything until today which also seems odd even in Australia! Can anyone tell me what would cause it to shut down whilst mobile at the beginning of the two hour trip please or do I have to go back to green sum again?

I think @Ipol might help you out with an answers.

Hi all as has already been mentioned the answer may well be in the settings Double check and make sure you save each new setting before finally formatting the sd card I dont use the motion detection or parking mode. Latest firmware version is AC 35 I think ..........I am using the LK9750 now and the LK7900 ace is on its way to my daughter in the UK ( am still having withdrawal symptoms ) Iwill miss that camera......@ Susie8000 My time as a newbie was a mine field you only have to read some of my early posts to get an idea of the problems trying to download new firmware and set up the camera So much that other members started warning me........ Ipol there is a new firmware update......... But with help from the members of this forum things got better.....Stick with it you have a lot of support ......Ipol 😀

If some of you are thinking LK9750 where did that come from its not shown on the Lukas english site, its because its not released yet to the european market......Lukas kindly sent it to me as recompense for the problems I had with 2 LK9700 D type and 1 LK9700 B type Its full HD front and rear cams and I am well pleased with it .....Sole problem is in playback it jumps sticks and misses frames but its a viewer problem not the camera and they are working to resolve it....It works faultlessly in the latest VLC player.......Ipol🙂

Thank you @Ipol for your wise words I appreciate everyone's support. I have never been on a forum before but did my research before I purchased and took notice of all comments made as I already had a dash cam but it was a cheapie and I was not happy with it. I will keep you posted on my journey! @Susie 8000

@Susie8000 As far as forums go you could not have picked a better one Its well regulated and run by DashCamMan and his team..... and of course its success is due to its members as well......For Dashcam reviews you might like to try Techmoan.com I am sure DashCamMan will forgive me for mentioning another forum ( its not usually the done thing) but the site is not in competition with this forum and many of the members of this forum use both the two sites kind of compliment one and other..... They are both well run and informative, you might say the two Bibles of the dashcam fraternity ....Ipol 🙂

Thank you @Ipol I will check it out.
My report of my return trip today is that recording is good BUT date and time is wrong and GPS is taking a long time to "find" me. Long trip was fine found in a couple of minutes but later trip took over half an hour. I was of the impression that time would auto correct from the GPS but if that is not working it obviously can't. I had GMT plus 10 and daylight saving ticked but have now changed this to GMT plus 11 and no tick on daylight saving. Is there anything else I should do. Thank you Susie8000

once the clock is set from GPS it should stay that way, +10 and DST or +11 without is the same thing, GPS only gives time details based on GMT 0, the offset is set by the camera

if your vehicle has an athermic windscreen to cut down on UV (some cars have this http://www.gpsoz.com.au/athermic.htm ) it can hamper GPS performance, try it outside the vehicle if possible and compare results, some windscreens like this do have a small section that is transparent to the signal and is usually mentioned in the owners manual if this is the case, the section that is transparent to the signal may not necessarily be in a suitable location though, of course it could be something else at play but worth a mention

Thanks for the suggestion jokiin @Susie8000 set the time to +10 and untick the DST box we are not in DST at the moment GMT DST starts sunday 29th march

OOOppppppsss sorry about that I was going by european time........but what can you expect even your sinks and baths empty with the water swirling the wrong way 😱 😀 ......trusting you are in good health jokiin ......regards Ipol

Thank you jokin and yes I guessed you are in Sydney and I am in Melbourne so same time zone. I have checked the windscreen with my dealer and may have stumbled upon the problem. He tells me that my screen contains rain sensors for the auto wipers and they are activated by a sensor in the back of the mirror and from what he has told me I have inadvertently positioned the camera in front of this which would block the signal and may confuse the GPS. I asked how the GPS in the Sat Nav operated and he said there was an antenna. There is a fin antenna on the rear of the roof so I assume that is it. I guess first step now is to move the camera down out of view of mirror which sort of defeats purpose of putting it behind the mirror!!! I am going out today so will see how long it takes to find a satellite by reviewing it tonight. Meantime I have told my husband to think about moving the camera. One other question please, what is the time function on the viewer for and does this need to have a time entered? I thought this may be for units with no GPS but cannot find anything in the very skimpy manual. Thank you.

not sure on that, @Ipol and @kamkar1 are the resident Lukas experts, perhaps they could offer some help

getting the camera further from the rain sensor may well improve things
