I have my Lukas LK-7500 sitting on the dotted area of my windscreen witch i think some ppl allso advise against, but the GPS still work fine for me.
I just tried to have a look at the Lukas player device time function, i have never notised/ used it before so i assume it might be a part of the latest firmware/player update.
I have allways just set the time to GPS +1 for here in Denmark, then saved the settings to the memory card for the ramera to read on next boot and that work fine and is not forgotten by my camera.
The trouble you have encountered might well be caused by the smart stuff on/in your windscreen and mirror, but i have no simmilar experience myself as i drive a bottom line suzuki car where the smartest par it heat in the seats and round wheels.
But i would imagine that if the camera dont get any information from the GPS reciver then it reverse to the default settings after a while.
I would allso try to move the camera a littel to see if that is the cure, perhaps have it lying on the dashbord to see if it can get any sattelites in sight while lying there, before you try to put it in a new place on the windscreen.
You might want to have the car started and the dashcam up and running, and then try to hold it by hand against places on the windscreen to see if it get a error witch i assume would be displayed on the little display on the back of the dashcamera.
That way you might be able to find the sweet spot to finally install the camera.
I think the Device time feature in the Lukas player might be for setting the time without using GPS, when i look at it on my computer it use the time/date of my computer, and it can be saved to the menorycard as "timeset.CFG" file ( witch is what the camera read on startup and configure itself after )
But i have not been able to play with it further as my card is in the car 2 flights of stairs down and in a cold dark yard behind my apartment block.
Will take out the card tomorrow/ later today ( 3 AM here ) to play a little with that feature of the Lukas player.
