Thank you Mi from Lukas for providing this camera.

I received this LK-7950 WD (LK-7950WD) on Saturday but this weekend was crazy with guests and party.
I got chance to open the box and take some pictures so here is the first impression post.
I'm reading manual today so I get the installation done tonight.
Yes, it's the RTFM time.

The NEW Lukas LK-7950 is the class leader in a dual camera setup. Using using SONY’s Full image sensors you now get FULL HD 1080p video from the front and rear cameras. (1920x1080P 30fps front and 1920x1080P 24fps rear) Recordings are made using H.264 (High Profile) AVI formatted files reduce compression loss and greatly improving the image quality.
The new wide angel lenses offer a 135 degree view on the front camera and 130 degree view on the rear camera enabling you to capture all the information. The front lens has a UV filter as standard and you can add an optional 37mm circular polarising filter to reduce reflections and glare.

Inside the shipping box, there were two packages:


1st package: Accessories like AV out cable, USB WiFi dongle for computer, car charger and CPL filter.

2nd package: Printed box for the daschcam.
Box is well printed specifically for the model with one side with a checkbox for different sub-versions like with GPS, with Ext. OBD, GPS and Ext. OBD.

•Rear Camera including adhesive mount
•Hard Wire Power Cable
•Front/Rear AV Cable --> Angled usb tip. Nice!

Physical impressions:
When I first opened the box, it's huge lens is very impressive to look at. It's pretty big in size along with the lens. None of my dashcams has that big lens mount and glass opening.
I compared lens of G90 and Lukas' lens is huge along with the aperture opening which is a good thing.

Here are the G90 and Lukas LK-7950 WD Front and Rear cameras together side-by-side.
Check the lens size on Lukas' front camera!
As you notice, the rear camera is considerably smaller which is very good to stick to the rear window as well as very discrete.

However, it's not as heavy as what the big size suggests.
It feels very well built and high quality.
The mount rotates smoothly and has good feel.

Not sure if this will come with LCD in the future.
There are other Lukas models with LCD but this one has wifi so not needed as the videos can be watched via wifi in a PC or phone.

There are two brackets for the front camera, one fixed and one swivel but the rear camera just attaches directly on the window with a 3M tape.
I'm using swivel bracket for the front camera.

There are other Lukas models with LCD but this one has wifi so not needed as the videos can be watched via wifi in a PC or phone.

This is all nice for people that have a smart phone or a PC in the car. I don't.

I need a display to check azimut and orientation after removing/inserting the card and potentially moving the cam.
Otherwise it looks like a fit. Maybe next model...

How do you compare this to Panorama X2. It looks like they are in the same price range. The benefits I can see so far over the X2 is the ability to add lens filter and WIFI.

No, microSD is only for events and both front and rear are on the regular SD card.
Both cards are provided by LUKAS.

I don't have Panorama x2 but have several other brands to compare... later.

So far, the last file is being saved without any issue.
After I remove the key, it records only a second after that so basically it shuts down as soon as power is off.
No corrupted file yet.

GPS is very good and locks in within a minute or so.

One note to using the brackets.
I had the small tab on the side of the mini USB port and that causes the tab to push camera down little bit against the mini USB plug and videos look tilted.
I pressed on the mini USB cable little hard to make it more flexible.

So if you have a choice, stick the bracket with the tab on the other side of mini USB port.
