Had Sandisk 128GB High Endurance. Started having Memory Error.

- Just bought brand new Sandisk 256GB Max Endurance per recommendation here.
- Installed new card. "Memory error". Tried to format it in the camera, "Memory card format failed"
- Formatted using mac Disk Utility using these instructions: link. Still Memory Error
- Checked firmware. Currently VIOFO_A229_V1.0_0801. Downloaded latest firmware and saved it on memory card (V1.2_20230920). Booted camera. Still Memory Error, firmware did not update.

What else can I do? Is it firmware? Can I update it directly on camera, without memory card?

This must be so extremely frustrating.
Are you willing to try an official Viofo brand SD Card?

Check the format type used on the memory cards.
You'll need to use fat32 which the camera defaults to in previous versions of firmware.

Place the new firmware on it and boot the dash cam.

It should automatically read the firmware file and start the update.

Once completed format the memory card to exfat and things should work correctly again.

Hope that helps.

Just did that.

After booting, getting "Memory Card Error".
Checked firmware - it has not been updated.

You could try update via the app.

I'm not sure if this will work but it's worth a try.

Connect the app to the dashcam.
In the very first app menu click on the three horizontal lines sometimes referred to a hamburger.

See images below.
If it's going to work it will start once you click on Firmware.
Make sure you have internet connected.

Good idea with using app. However for A229 "This camera does not support firmware online upgrade".

H2TESTW is not available for Mac. Disk utility is showing appropriate capacity.

Hate spending another $20 for the smallest VIOFO card but I guess this is the last ditch effort.

Alternatives are available for mac to verify a disk

Tried SDFormatter (cool tool). No luck

Received VIOFO memory card. Same "Memory Card Error"

What is next? Send it to tech support? Is it worth it?

Try resetting the dash cam by pressing the button on the side of the unit.

With a formatted 32GB fat32 card but the latest firmware on it and place in the Dashcam.

Hopefully a cold boot will see the Dashcam upgrade the firmware.
Make sure you are using a Viofo Power converter eg cigarette adapter to help Tyler out other possible causes.

Too bad OTA firmware didn't work. Was worth the try as you never know until you try it.

Is it worth sending it away will be a different answer for each of us depending on the freight cost, what Viofo advise and your personal inconvenience.
I'm guessing you created a support ticket with Viofo, if not it's worth a shot.

This is when a shop front makes life that little easier. Eg take it back to the shop.

Cheers.
