Wow... Am i glad i found this thread. I created an account just so i could reply and post my experience with the a229 duo. I purchased the camera October 3, 2022. I installed it using the HK4 hard wire kit into my new 2022 rav4.
My desired recording settings are as follows:
1440p + 1440p, max bitrate , 10 minute loop recording (for normal driving).
Low bitrate for parking mode. I have the parking mode duration set for 12 hours.
As far as i can tell, parking mode works fine. The issue I've been having (and it mirrors other users issues) is that when you start the car (so the camera goes from park mode to normal driving mode) the camera start beeping after about 30 seconds.
I've tried it on the following three SD cards: Samsung Pro Endurance 64Ggb (the new model with the blue lettering), Samsung Pro Endurance 256gb (also the new model with the blue lettering), Samsung Evo Select 128gb. For clarity's sake, I've attached a pic of the actual SD cards i've been trying over the past 3 weeks.
The Samsung Pro Endurance 64gb model (the new one with the blue lettering) starting beeping immediately, but seemed to work fine at first at 1080p + 1080p normal bit rate. After about 2 weeks it started to beep about 30 seconds after starting the car even in the lower bitrate/resolution setting.
The Samsung Evo Select 128gb also started beeping immediately at 1440p + 1440p, max bit rate. It seemed happy at 1440p + 1440p normal bitrate for only a few days before having the beep-on-startup issue. (I realize this one was never advertised as being recommended or rated for dash cam duty. I'm including this here for completeness though).
The Samsung Pro Endurance 256gb model (also the new one with the blue lettering) worked fine at 1440p + 1440p max bitrate, but only for about 24 hours. This one i tried a full, slow format with the guiformat tool recommended. This took about 8 hours or so. after the slow format it seemed to work again at 1440p + 1440p max bitrate, but went back to beeping on startup after a day.
I will be returning all 3 SD cards and i will try the Sandisk Max Endurance 256gb (the white one with gold lettering). If that does not work, I will try the Viofo branded card. I'll post updates as they happen.
while i wait for the sandisk card to arrive, I'll use whatever sd card i have spare laying around at 1080p + 1080p low bitrate (so that i at least have some footage, even if poor quality, in the event of an accident)
