Hello, the only way to get to the main menu on my dashcam is to remove the card. Does this mean that the card is not working?

Probably. I have found that some devices will not turn on when a bad memory card is installed. Memory cards are cheap, get some known good ones to help debug problems like this.

All is good. I installed a new card, formatted it and everything works

Regardless of price, no card is going to record reliably unless it is reformatted regularly. At least one dashcam manufacturer recommends monthly re-formats.

Sandisk 256Gb High Endurance Micro SDXC. After numerous issues with my Nextbase 622GW, on recommendations, I switched to this card, format it bi-monthly and haven't had a single issue in 5 months.
