MINI 0801S Turns off instantly after un-plugging

Hey guys, new here, just signed up today.

I've had this dash-cam since May, 2017 and since I've had it it has always INSTANTLY powered off (with the Power Off screen) as soon as it is disconnected from a power source, whether that's the mounting itself, or the cigarette-lighter.

My Dad has the same camera and with his, if it is unplugged he can aim it around and even go through the menu and things for a good couple of minutes before it powers itself off.

I've had a search and asked the supplier who is contacting the manufacturer, so bit of a wait in this day and age.. any advice is appreciated!

INFO: I have the latest firmware and have just installed it today but the issue persists.

your dad must have a different camera, the 0801S has a super capacitor, it's meant to turn off instantly

Hmm.. what a shame! His is a few years older than mine and the quality doesn't compare, so I gathered it HAD to have that feature.

yes the older version had a battery inside
