Mini 0805 won't loop when card is full

Try this:

1) Use the dashcam to reformat the card again
2) Set the loop to 1 minute

Try and fill that up before your trip to see if it works.
I have done just that and put the camera back onto its mount in the car. At least it now turns on and off using the power button! And I was able to access the menu to reduce loop time to 1 minute. I was worried is would be stuck in standby mode forever :)

I would return it if I were you.

By now I am mad as hell of Mini 0805 as they keep killing my cards on top of all the issues I already raised in this thread.
They would not erase the oldest files no matter what and about every week on or another card has to be formatted, and after a couple of months of this I send them back to Kingston and have to wait a couple weeks for a replacement, as the cards just stop being detected in any kind of device.

A specialist I trust tells me that it is a combination of card being written to while full with sketchy power supply that keep killing my cards, which means that power supplies that came with Mini 0805 suck at stabilizing the power, and the camera itself sucks at stabilizing power to the cards.

For the life of me I cannot understand why it is absolutely impossible to program firmware to always reserve some space (say, 1 GB) and correctly recycle the files. I am a software developer and do that for a living - it is as simple as 1, 2, 3 to delete an oldest file and create a new one.

GPS works only about 50% of time with no rhyme or reason which completely defeats the purpose of having these cameras to prove the situation in case of an accident. I have to rely on a real GPS tracker that I was hoping to replace.

This is an inferior product with superior CPU and sensor!

power supply design is not optimal on this model

sensor is good, processor isn't as good as people like to believe

I was wondering if the unit cannot take the heat. It was very hot to touch when I removed it - and it's still winter here! When parked in the sun I always stick a cover on the outside of the windscreen to cover it but there is nothing I can do while driving into the sun. Returning to provider not an option as we had it couriered to us from China and we leave next week.

Can you tell me which version firmware in your Mini0805? Maybe you can try to update the firmware and see ,the camera is with built in memoery card or not?

The camera is very small ,after operating for some time the camera surface will become hot, this is normal operation, and no need for concern. Take additional care when touching your camera after long periods of operation.

Answers to above. No idea of firmware version. Internal battery is now flat as I have removed it from my car. Tried to connect to my computer via USB cable and nothing works. Cannot access menu or turn on. Just sits with a blue screen saying "USB connecting". It has no built in memory card. I have tried everything including turning off G-Force. Reset to 1 minute looping. Card fills up, camera goes into standby mode and will not turn off or respond to any buttons. I have had to remove it from power source and wait until internal battery goes flat. In short - I am done with this dashcam. This morning we went to buy another make and hopefully that will work on our road trip as we leave tomorrow. What a waste of money! Maybe I'll try and deal with it when we get back in a month's time and upgrade firmware. But for now I have given up.

Are you a manufacturer of Mini 0805?

Listen then: your product is effin' stupid. Literally. I am absolutely infuriated by this product by now, so you will have to excuse my strong language. I bought 4 of these cameras for a tidy sum of money and expected that they would work, but they keep failing me.

You need to have your developers make some changes to firmware to make the camera actually useful.

First of all, if a user is operating the menus, do not, for f##k sake, shut down on the user! If the camera is set up to turn off after a timeout, this timeout should be re-set every time a user is pressing a button. Trying to format a card that the camera cannot write to and having the damn things shutting down while trying to enter the menu is infuriating.

Also, if the motion detection is ON, but the user is operating the menus, the camera must not switch on recording if a user turned recording off. The user's actions on the menu must be a priority. The camera, instead, turns recording back on if it detects motion from a user touching the buttons. This is stupid and unacceptable as it makes entering the menu impossible. I have to remove the camera from the mount and put it against non-transparent surface just to enter the main menu.

Secondly, there should be an option to automatically format the card if there is a write error. The camera knows that the card needs to be formatted, so this should not be too difficult.

And the most important, have an option to reserve space, say 1, 3 and 5% of the card size, or 128, 256, 512 and 1024 MB. Without that option your damn camera is killing the SD cards by filling them up to the maximum size and continuing writing. I have sent 4 cards back under warranty and every time had to wait for a month to get them replaced. This is not acceptable!

All these issues can be EASILY addressed by a firmware update. I am not asking you to improve the power supply as you have already sold the device, but making those minor changes to the FW is rudimentary simple - I am a developer with over 20 years experience and know full well that every college student can do that in less than a day including testing.

And let everyone know here once you've made those changes that we can download new FW.

Apparently I was wrong about lack of reserved space! It is indeed reserved on the card... a whooping 16 Megabytes
For Chissake! 16 MB reserve on an 8-16-32-64 GB card? Like 0.1%? You gotta be kidding!
The camera is probably destroying that much in bad blocks daily.

I have mini 0805 with firmware 20141211 that works flawlessly until I got bored and decided to update the firmware to 20160706_1card+gps.
Since then, the recording on the sdcard does not loop when full. Mind you, shock level setting is at default 4.5g hence...the 20160706 update!

I dld 20141211_1card+gps by ex-father from this site and installed it. But unfortunately, it bricked my 0805 after a successful installation.
It won't boot anymore and noticed the backlight is on + blue led stays on.

Oh well...lesson learned. If ain't broke, don't fix it! I'm in search search of 0805 *.elf file, anyone?

so i guess: you are not bored now :D
Ok, i tag @BELLA WONG , she can help you with firmware stuff.

Yeah, you got that right, thanks! I opened the dashcam, disconnect the internal battery on/off and it boot up but not recording. Also, I noticed the menu disappeared!
I definitely have to re flash this toy if I can find the right file. Still searching....

Edit: Never mind, I re flash using *.elf from 20141204 firmware and it worked, never to disturb again. It just took me forever to make my own OTG cable. Never heard of OTG cable until now but glad I learned something new today.

Now on to the unlocking of locked video clips off of my 4 sdcards. All cards are currently full and recording does not loop since 20160706 update. I'm all ears for suggestions

so is there a solution to this issue? Mine just got stuck today and I found out only by chance since it is mounted behind my rear view mirror and I can't see solid blue LED unless I specifically look for it. (Before you tell me to put it somewhere else - it is illegal in the state of NJ to have a dashcam on the windshield with an active screen - allegedly distracts the driver).

I reformatted the card in the dashcam and it seems to be recording now, but it is a pain in the ass to keep eye out for when it becomes full. @BELLA WONG ?

Does everyone who has the Mini 0805 have the SD Card looping issue? I'm planning to get one and set it up to record the rear of my car. My car is tinted at the back and I read the review it records great at night. Let me know if that is true. thanks

Hi, before using the camera, please format the memory cards in the camera or computer to avoid potential camera or card malfunction.
Memory cards also need to be formatted regularly to avoid potential camera or card malfunctioning.

So pretty much - the answer is - NO, there is no solution, set up a routine and yank the card out, dump your videos and plug it back in. Looks like a bi-weekly ritual for me - from 11/25 thru 12/12 32GB card filled up.

If the camera still have loop problem after formatting card, upgrade firmware is another choice to solve it.
welcome to email me for new firmware: bella.wong@skyhigh-global.com
