is it resetting the time as in goes back to some fixed date like 01/01/2017 etc, or it is out by a fixed number of hours?

timezone depends where you are, eg NSW is currently +11, QLD is +10, WA is +8 etc

The date is correct, however the time is always wrong, I'm in Qld so don't know what time zone I should be setting.
