Hello all,

I just got my thieye t5e today, and immediately took off the lens, and attached my CCTV lens. I still need an IR filter, but the results are impressive!

Modding the camera took all of 15 minutes, and is completely reversible! Best part, it looks almost OEM, the adapter ring sticks out a tiny bit around the edges, but it doesn't look bad. You can judge for yourself.

I didn't even have to mess with any adjustments for the adapter itself, I just screwed it in as deep as it will go, and I can adjust the focus with the focal, and aperture rings! The adapter is too short to even come near the sensor, so it's the perfect size.

At 4k 30 fps, it looks very movie-like. It has those soft edges around the focus point, and everything looks very smooth. With a gimbal, this camera could nearly pass for professional in my opinion.

Anyway, I'll post some pics, and a gif of the lens in action.

I forgot to post links to parts.

This what I mean about the adapter ring, I could probably even shave off what is sticking out, but I don't care enough.

This is @ 2560x1440/60fps (the pink hue is from lack of IR filter)

Hi, I was thinking doing the same, is the mount in the thieye thread strong enough to handle the weight of the lens ?

TIA

Edit: And is it easy to open the original lens? Just turn it or need some heating first for the glue ?

cool. I use this lens on my mirrorless cameras. super cheap and certainly not sharp but I do love the look and swirly bokeh that it can produce.

Yes its great for video, and it would be nice in the small thieye
