Hey everyone,
I’m deciding on my first dashcam and I’ve narrowed it down to the Viofo A119M Pro and the Vantrue E1 Pro. From what I’ve seen, the video quality on both is very close (correct me if im worng). I liked that they both are one 4k channel which what I was looking for.

What Imm trying to figure out is which brand is actually more reliable over the long run and which one handles heat better, since Im in the Middle East and the summers get extreme. I will also be mounting it on the frits, so how clean and low-profile it sits on the windscreen matters a lot to me.

The price difference is 30$ for the E1 Pro, and I’m fine paying a bit more if one of them is the better long-term pick.
Thanks.

got to say that @Hack_man really gave me some solid insight, mainly that both cameras are strong options, but the A119M Pro is probably the safer pick for my heat conditions, especially since the E1 Pro tends to run warm.

If anyone has additional info or long-term experience, please feel free to share

Thank you for your interest in the Vantrue E1 Pro.
We’d like to clarify one point regarding heat performance: under the same conditions, such as Wi-Fi turned off and the screen turned off—the E1 Pro actually runs cooler. You can also see this in the test data from the reviewer you shared.

By default, we keep both the screen and Wi-Fi switched on to provide a smoother out-of-the-box user experience. However, if you are concerned about heat, you can manually turn off these features, and the operating temperature will noticeably improve.

I was also choosing between the two and after extensive research opted for E1 Pro:
1. Cheaper
2. Smaller

Video quality is comparable between the two, no clear winner.

I just bought the Vantrue E1 Pro a couple weeks ago. I was also comparing it to the Viofo A119M Pro.

At the time I purchased them, there was a $66 difference between the 2 cameras with the Vantrue E1 Pro being the lower priced, when I compared the camera + the hardwire kit + a 256gb data card.

The Viofo A119M Pro has wifi 6, while the Vantrue E1 Pro has wifi 5. I don't see that difference as being worth paying for.

For me, one of the deciding factors was price. But for me, a major factor was also the tiny size of the E1 Pro, which can be completely hidden behind the rear view mirror. I didn't want an obvious camera in my car, the E1 Pro let me hide it.

Please get a quality Micro SD card like VIOFO's or Vantrue's, as they will fast far longer than a normal consumer card (years instead of months) and likely endure the heat better.

My view. Only the top of the mount is visible. As my truck has lots of electronics up at the rear view mount the slightly narrower mount and slightly smaller size were important to me for mounting so that the camera is not visible while driving.

FWIW, you will notice the mount of the E1 Pro is about 1" to the left of the electronic's housing in my truck's upper windshield.

When I record video I 'see' just a tiny sliver of the corner of that housing. So that is the closest I can mount it to the centerline of the windshield and the camera's view is just below the shade 'dots' on the windshield. These cameras have a wide angle of view so I could not move it farther to the centerline. And given this is a modern truck with lane keeping assistance, auto braking, blah blah blah, the various senses and optical imaging systems in that housing take up a lot of space.

I probably could have fit the Viofo A119M Pro in the same spot, but given it cost considerably more $ and the only real advantage I could see is WiFi 6 instead of WiFi 5, it simply was not worth the added cost to me. There was a $66 added cost to get the Viofo and the Vantrue E1 Pro, with hardwire kit and 256gb card was under $150 delivered to my door.

I see that the E1 Pro has a bit wider recording angle than the A119M Pro, while installing my A119M Pro it really took me almost an hour only positioning the dashcam so I have it as close as possible to the center and at highest hidden point. Its the first time I feel that less can be more in my Toyota Camry where I have almost no technologies in the standard trim which made it easier to position the dashcam wherever I want. It worth saying that the buttons functions and their placement are really good in dashcam, as I started to get what every button does and how its easy to enable WIFI(to connect to Viofo's app) I really dont use the 1.5 inch hidden screen no more.
How was your experience with the functionality and accessibility of the buttons in the E1 Pro and the usability of the dashcam in general ?

If I move the mirror aside I can access the buttons and view the screen. HOWEVER that is not something I do.

The Vantrue App is much easier and faster to use than scrolling through commands on the screen. So on the couple of occasions when I have needed to adjust settings, I simply connect to my phone and use the App. Using the App is probably 300-500% faster than scrolling through menus on the device. I also use the App to review the video.

My phone is mounted on my dashboard with a Quad-Lock mount, screen facing me, so that makes it even more convenient.

Their app does not work with Adguard ad blocker though, it says disable VPN for some reason. WTH?

Not sure if this applies to others but ...

I found the Vantrue app disconnects when I have my CarPlay wireless adapter plugged into my vehicle. Even if I select "Forget this network" for the CarPlay adapter, the Vantrue app disconnects. So I simple pull the CarPlay adapter out, then connect to the Vantrue app and all seems to work fine. I'm not sure it's actually a problem with the Vantrue app? The CarPlay wireless adapter, while it generally works well, seems to take a brute force approach to WiFi and just keeps trying, even when the software is told it should be disabled. Pulling it from the USB socket solves the problem and then the Vantrue app works as it is supposed to.

FWIW, I use Safari with its built in adblocker turned on and that is not an issue with the Vantrue app connection.

Thank you for your detailed feedback.
This isn’t the Vantrue app forcing disconnects. When using Wireless CarPlay, the iPhone can only connect to one Wi-Fi at a time. While CarPlay is active, it takes the Wi-Fi, so the dashcam connection drops. Pulling the adapter out lets the phone reconnect to the dashcam as normal.

I have completely stopped letting wifi connect automatic to anything, this way when i want to do something with wifi ( first need to turn it on ) then i do that particular thing.
BT is also generally off here, i don't use it much and it being named after a old Danish king ( Harald blue tooth ) well lets just say we Danes had too many bad leaders than i want to remember.

I’m also contemplating which to buy of these 2 options. The E1 Pro can currently be bought for £103 in the UK, £130 with hardwire kit. The A119m Pro for £155 with HK6 hardwire kit.
