Thanks for your replies.
So, I guess that goes to my other question: for a camera that costs nearly three times as much, I wouldn't expect them to "look similiar." I'd expect better quality. But, again, maybe I need to re-calibrate my own standards.
The other thing I'm trying not to fall prey to is the fact that more lifelike isn't the goal--it's more detail. So, in some ways, I guess I can see that the Mobius makes a prettier movie, but the Panorama might have greater contrast and detail in certain areas (e.g. comparing the grass in the two pictures above).
We can not fully judge this way, where 3x more expensive would give you 3x better picture. In dashcam word even similar / close performance dashcams could give you a different video quality perception, depending on which CPU ( processor ) is used and how firmware is tuned up. Each processor has its own so called "footprint" on the video. TI ( Texas Instrument ), Novatek, Ambarella, Zoran etc., - they all leave some unique "footprint" and in many cases I can tell from video what processor is used in that dashcams. Thats why when you watching and comparing Mobius ( Novatek CPU ), - your eyes can see a difference from Zoran Coach ( Panorama ). To some people one "footprint" looks more pleasant than to others.
If we only compare final output video of Mobius vs Panorama at day time, then I would not say Panorama is better at day, - I think they are equal, or on some cases Mobius is very slightly better due to slightly narrower FOV ( field of view ) which brings objects a little bit closer.
At night time Panorama is better due to Sony Exmor CMOS.
Also you paying 3x more for Panorama that can work in extreme heat, where Mobius ( even Capacitor version ) could fail. Also Panorama can be used for 24/7 parking recording, it uses pre-buffer recording ( Mobius does not have it ). Panorama has THE lowest power consumption in parking mode. Motion detection sensitivity on Panorama is better than on Mobius. and so on.
All above mentioned "extras" are why Panorama is 3x higher the price of Mobius.
From video quality point of view they are equal at day ( or some time Mobius could be better due to narrower lens FOV ), at night Panorama is slightly better.
So, if you dont need all those other extra options where Panorama is better, then of course I would also prefer a Mobius.
