Hi guys, long time no see. I bought a DVR207 HD720P four years ago (from seller estore009 on eBay), almost to the day, and it's been excellent all this time and still works very well.

I've had a few incidents on the road lately and the dashcam has proved its worth. But some details were missing (licence plates etc) because the whole unit is a bit aged and dated at this stage, resolution too low, low fps etc. So I want to update the camera with the latest budget offering (I paid AU$70 for the current one, including delivery, but will pay up to $120-ish).

So without reading millions of threads, can someone point me to the best budget dashcam on the market today? Thanks!

The Viof0 G1W-S is probably a good bet on the low end. (or one of its variants)

1080P HD Video & Audio Recording
G-Sensor Capabilities
2.7" Video Screen
NT96650 + Sony IMX323
Support GPS Logger (Optional)
Super-Capacitor for Improved Temperature Tolerance

Thanks. Now looking at the Viofo A119s ... 1440 is a better resolution and I can get if + a 32GB Transcend Premium card for US$104 delivered.... better price than eBay.

Oops, pulled the trigger, bought:
Transcend 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card with Adapter Up to 60MB/s (TS32GUSDU1PE)
VIOFO A119 Car Dash Cam HD 1440P 2.0 Inch TFT

Ditto on the G1W-S, but mostly for it;s excellent nighttime performance due to the Sony sensor. I got mine here but I'm not sure who handles Australia https://www.amazon.com/gp/B01MUSMZHQEqual daytime performance can be found in the slightly cheaper G1W-HC for about 1/3 less, but nighttime is just acceptable overall. Both these are powered by super-caps and handle summer heat well

For a 'wedge' cam the Chupad D501 is a good battery-powered cam with a Sony sensor and the Viofo A119 offers a lot of value for the money as does the A119S with better nighttime capability.

I think now is the best time I've seen for good cams at good prices, especially when compared to older models like yours.
