My pension, which is a early age pension due to health, is about the salary of a unskilled person working, me having many longer and shorter educations loose a lot, the actual pension is A LOT lower, but then you can apply for all kinds of help so you end up at the same but then help finance several people employed in public jobs.
In Denmark over 800.000 people are in public / government jobs, and only 3.5 million of the 6 million Danes are working, Denmark maybe only second to Norway in size of the public sectors.
At the moment record few people are on welfare, but that is still like 70.000 people or so, these will probably never get a job.
I know people that today are 60 years old, maybe a year or two more, their total working life can easy be counted in weeks, so i use to say they have worked less than i have called in sick during my working life, and i have some times worked 2 full time jobs even if that is not really necessary in Denmark.
I got my first education at a public entity, the Danish Railroads ( DSB ) when i left that place, i promised myself that i would never work in a public job again, CUZ even if a was a shady person back then, i was not that kind of thief.
If the Danish railroads had operated as a regular company, it would have gone bankrupt in the 60ties, it too is a utterly incompetent place.
