Just to let you know that I released a new App called "Movies And Maps" in the Apple App Store for OSX.

You can play the the videos from the Dashcam and it shows the route and current position on a map.

The App supports NMEA log files, but you can create your own import filters (for example full range of Mini 80x and 903 Dashcams is supported).

You can take snapshots and edit them + trim the movie and export in s smaller or same resolution.

see www.moviesandmaps.com for more details.

At the moment it supports GPS logs in comma separated format (CSV), the details can be configured under the Apps preferences, and it plays all video formats macOS supports (MP4/MOV containers).

Is is there a trial version available to check it out?

I just bought this and downloaded it. The GPS doesn't work for my DDPai M6+. I tried to edit Preferences, but I may not be understanding the fields correctly.

Here's a sample of the gps file:

If I understand this correctly, field 0 is the valid line text. Field 1 is time. Field 2 is the valid data field. Field 3 is latitude. Field 4 is N-S. Field 6 is longitude. Field 7 is E-W, Field 8 is speed. Field 9 is empty. Field 10 is date. and I don't know what those last fields are.

Is that correct?

UPDATE: I just realized, the problem is I can't import the gps files. They're named .gpx. Is that the problem? If so, maybe you could add a field to the preferences to define the file type?

I know it's just 2 bucks but this is the reason why I'm asking if there's a trial version..

If it works.. my money is waiting.

I love the filter implementation, great job!

Hopefully, I'm not overstepping here, but I think the product name is a little lacking if your primary market is dash cam owners (which is what the website seems to indicate).

I would consider something more SEO friendly (something like dash cam tools, dash cam manager, dash cam maps, dash cam bot, dash bot, etc.).

Thanks for the feedback! You are correct the GPX files are not recognized as log files, but if you rename the .gpx files to .log or .txt they will, you can create your own filter for this camera as per below. With the next update I will make sure .gpx extensions can be imported!

There is no trial version available, but through the App Store you can request a refund if the App does not work as expected. Before you do please use the feedback form from the website/built-in App help, so issues can be queued and addressed, when resolvable ... the next update will tackle it!

Yeah ... it's difficult to come up with a name, but one could use the app for any kind of GPS tracker/logger, even without movies, so maybe it's the website that needs some updating with images from hikes, boats etc.

I figured it out. The gps files have to be named .nmea instead of .gpx. So I created a new folder named NMEA, copied all the .gpx files into there and batch renamed them to .nmea. It's working fine now.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad it works! In any case I will add the gpx extension to the 'allowed' files with the next update!

Doesn't work with the SG9665GC. GPS files are not loading.

Please add the function to zoom the playing video. I like the minimalistic look but the name and especially the app logo din't fit IMO.

I'm keeping it, look forward to using it as my go-to viewer in the future.

Edit:

Maybe @jokiin could help with the SG line receiving support.

Any thoughts of doing a Windows/Linux/Android port in the future?

our GPS data is embedded in the video file, this is working with external files so would need some work to add support for our format

I like the ability to define the fields, very nice approach to handling multiple cameras, shame I can't try it as I don't have a Mac but pleased to see this all the same

Unfortunately not, this App will be exclusively for the macOS platform

Can I download a sample file with embedded GPS data to give it a try (does it follow the ISO6709 standard)?

I see @harsh has already sent you a link for a sample file, if you need further info on how the file is stored in the video or whatever just let me know
