Hi there,

I orginally wanted to get the F770 as people recommended here. But after I talked with Mercedes dealer and ask them to install (hardwire) it for me, they refused to do it. So I decided to go with the front camera only at this moment. Opia2 seems pretty good for my purpose of use. I just ordered it and haven't received the package yet. I am wondering, how long is the wire, is it long enough for me to hide it around the window shield and dash board? My GLE43 has a stupid gigantic merceds device (garage opener or emergency call) on the top center of front window, it makes hiding the camera nearly impossible. is the len angle wide enough if the camera is set skew to one side?

The cable is 4 meters or about 13 feet. You should still be okay having it a little over to the passenger side.

If you want to try it below the mirror a rear view mirror bracket might be an idea, but it might also hang too low for you.
You can read more about it here

Here is an idea of true FOV. Catching someone who can't wait for people in the cross walk.

Thank you. I am planning to route the wire through the left corner of window shield , then through driver side of dash board, and to the 12 v plug. I should get some 3m wire tapes. the images you showed are very clear. I will receive my package on Tuesday I think.

I also think to use that bracket behind the mirror is a very good idea. I have something just like that on my other car. But that was for an escort redline radar detector. I need to measure how thick is that holder for GLE's mirror.

Thank you.
You're welcome.

Do you mean these?
I have had some come with one of the cameras I had gotten at some point. They were the ones pictured with the green and white backing. They were junk. They always fell off my dash. I don't have any experience with the red backed 3M ones though, but I am a huge fan of 3Ms Dual Lock Tape

hmm... I don't know I can still cancel the order of those tape. I am going to order some dual lock tape. found the black color tapes, those will work. And i also ordered Tiffen 52mm Circular Polarizer

I just received the package today. I have two questions:
1. There is a lot of reflection of dashboard in the video. I have a Tiffen filter on it. Was it the angle?

2. the 1440p video was not as clear as I expected. Do i need to adjust something in settings?

You need to rotate the filter until the reflections diminish. Place a piece of white paper on the dashboard and look at the camera LCD while you rotate the filter. The CPL is set correctly when the white paper almost disappears.

Make sure your firmware is up to date. There are two versions of the most new firmware. 2.6 and 2.6s

V2.6s' image sharpness has been lowered and has a softer image quality comparing to V2.6.

Firmware can be found here

I just checked, the firmware version is 2.6.
I will be uploading a night time recording soon. I am not an expert... but reading the license plate is very difficult. sometimes the plate of the car in the near by lane is easier to read.

Iviax, don't expect to be able to read license plates at night. From what I've read, no dashcam today has that kind of video quality at night. Opia 2 doesn't have any special night vision capabilities. I think there are dash cams on the market that have some kind of night vision mode.

As far as the video quality, what class of micro sd card are you using? I had similar issues with video quality with C10 micro sd. Once I switched to UHS-3 micro sd card, video quality soared. See here for my post and sample footage
