Newbie advice please - dashcams with separate camera

Hello all - just signed up.

I'm looking for my first dashcam and can't seem to find what I'm looking for - so would appreciate your advice.

What I'm after is to install the main part of the recorder (including the screen if it has one but a screen is not essential) in the glove box or under the dash and just have the camera mounted up alongside the mirror.

The power wiring would then be easier to fit and the installation much neater and less obvious.

It seems to me that this would be the most straightforward way to install any dash cam but I can't see any cameras that work like this. They all seem to have the camera built into the main control box and so require the whole lot mounting on the windscreen with the power wiring fed up to it.

Are there any cameras available that have a remotely mounted camera?
