Good evening after someone cut me up on a roundabout I have decided to buy a dash cam. My halfords have got some good deals on dashcams at the moment. I am after a dash cam that has front and rear views for the ultimate coverage. I have been looking at the nextbase 522gw and to buy the rear mount camera module also. I am also looking at the blackvue dr750s-2ch. Also I have noticed the blackvue dr900s-2ch. So my questions are,

1. Which one would you guys recommend between the 3?
2. Which has the best customer support?
3. What's the difference between the 750s and the 900s (noob question I know).
4. Is the 750s and the 900s worth the money?

Many thanks guys!

1. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B07F27F5CW
2. It is better if you don't buy a dashcam that needs customer support!
3. The 900s is known for overheating and poor quality 4K video.
4. I was going to point out that the batteries only last 13 months because they overheat in the sun, better to buy a dashcam without a battery, however I see you live in rainy Preston, so you should be OK!

You could read some of the threads on these cameras, and the forum guide: https://dashcamtalk.com/best-dash-cams-of-2019/

I have the dr900 1ch and the quality is good, but not great. I’ve had it over a year now and I’ve had no problems with it and I live in Florida where it’s super hot and humid. If I had to do it over again I would have purchased the Viofo A119 v3 or the 129 shown above. dr900 is not worth the money in my opinion. Good luck

900 has a built-in super capacitor not a battery

If you dont mind me asking what makes the viofo a better dash cam? I am open to other ideas etc. Just want to make sure I pick the correct one and protect my investment properly. Also I forgot to mention I am also wanting the dashcam hardwired and to if possible record when the car is locked and parked. Not just to record in a event when bumped. I mean continuous recording all the time, and only stop recording if low car battery.

If you look in the 522 forum, then the current first thread is titled "Unreliable", of course you should read a few of the threads before deciding: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/522gw.302/ Big issue is that it has a lithium battery that overheats in June/July and kills the camera.

Blackvue DR900 is a bit better, but it is known for low image quality, especially when it isn't sunny = not good for Preston! : https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/dr900s-2ch.255/

Blackvue DR750 seems much better, a lot of people like that one : https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/dr750s-1ch.248/
It even makes it into the Best Dash Cams page along with the Viofo: https://dashcamtalk.com/best-dash-cams-of-2019/

But the DR750 costs considerably more than the Viofo A129, and on image quality I think the Viofo wins, so unless you need some feature that the DR750 has and the A129 doesn't, or you are not concerned about the money, then the A129 is probably the better choice, many people very happy with it. There is also a 4K version about to be released that has considerably better image quality than the DR900: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/viofo-a129-pro-dual-dashcam-4k-front-1080-rear.40094/

If you want to use parking mode with the Viofo then get their 3-wire hardwire kit and fuse taps appropriate to your car, it's a reasonably simple install. It does provide low voltage cut off to protect the battery.

IMHO Viofo cams offer the best value for the money of any dashcams sold today. Great build quality, some of the very best vid quality, very good updating and development, and very good factory support should you need that. Plus there's an active semi-official modified firmware group for their cams which gets you every possible bit of performance from them (y)

Of Blackvue, the DR750 is the only one I'd consider; the older ones are no longer supported and the newer ones still have some 'teething problems' which Blackvue is slow to address as usual for them :( Some Nextbase cams are OK but I think a step down from the others mentioned here, and some are having serious problems. Research well before buying ;)

Another option is Street Guardian with top-level build quality, components, and support along with very well thought out firmware tuned specifically for dashcam use
