NextBase 622GW Firmware

Hi! Does anybody have an older firmware version for the NextBase 622GW? Either 12.4 or 11.1. I updated my dash cam to version 12.6 and have been having freezing issues. Did a factory reset multiple times but it still randomly freezes.
 
excellent. iā€™ve just bought the 622gw so i donā€™t think iā€™ll update the firmware on it šŸ‘
 
Thanks, just discovered this post and you may have just saved my sanity. I 'upgraded' to 12.6 and since then the dash cam has been freezing about 1-2 mins into a journey. Professionally installed through Nextbase, rear ball cam, worked perfectly until 12.6 firmware. I contacted Nextbase who suggested trying without the rear cam.. and try bypassing hardwire kit.. despite everything working perfectly on previous firmware. So, thanks for this!

I am thinking of buying the 622GW (hardwired) even though the forums are full of negative comments relating to the firmware.

Google suggests firmware version 12.6 has some major bugs. Google also states that v12.7 was released in July 2025 but the latest version offered on the Nextbase website shows 12.6? Again, Google has suggested that the most reliable and stable version is 11.1. So, does anybody have the firmware files for 11.1? If v12.7 really is available - does it address the issues in 12.6?

Google AI doesn't always get things quite right, 12.6 was released in July 2025 accrding to their website (check the date on the download link). 12.6 was buggy as hell for me, prevented the camera from working as it should. I grabbed the 12.4 firmware from the post earlier in this thread and re-flashed my camera with that, since then works perfectly on 12.4 with zero issues.
 
Sorry guys, I changed my mind at the last moment and bought a Viofo A229 dash cam. So far works a treat and downloading files is quick.
 
I had reported an issue with my 622gw locking up to Nextbase. They said I should go back to were I purchased it for an exchange. Even though I was able to do that (Both the retailer and I were in agreement that nextbase should have handled the return), I was able to get a replacement. In looking at the other 622gw I had for my vehicle, I noticed it started having the same issue after upgrading to 12.6. I found this forum when looking for the 12.4 firmware. I sent a message back to Nextbase support about the issue I found when searching again on the lockups asking why they did not bring up going back to R12.4.
 
I did receive feedback from Nextbase about the issue. They said that their development team has been able to reproduce the issue on the 12.6 firmware and advises to use the 12.4 until they develop a patch for the issue. Below is their response:

Thank you for confirming the above.

The development team are aware of the issue with freezing on 12.6, and all information from above can be passed on.

If the dash cam is working as expected on 12.4, then please keep this firmware version on the dash cam until we have an update/new firmware update for the 622GW.

You have been linked to this ticket, so when an update is provided, you will be informed.

Thank you."
 
Does anyone have NBDVR622GWA-R12.6.zip saved?
Both the app and download from Nextbase failed.

I would refrain from updating to 12.6 for now. Nexbase did confirm there is an issue with the 12.6 firmware on devices causing freezing while using the cam. I would still with the current firmware you have (12.4 or lower) The download may be failing because Nextbase may have removed it due to the freezing issues. They are working on a fix which will be in a newer firmware version.

Thanks for the warning. I see now that version 13 is out. I had to use VPN and the following address to download it. EU links don't work.
 
Thanks for the update. Interesting that Nextbase has not sent a update on the case that 13 is now available. Hopefully this fixes the issue. Since 12.4 is solid, I am going to wait on the update.
