Novice needs help - need dashcam when engine is off

Hello everybody,

I bought a new car a week ago and two times already has a person ran into my car and just drove off, while it was park, not leaving any contact information.

I'm therefore looking for a camdash which can turn on, either all the time or when something happens, despite the fact that it is parked - is this even possible?

I've read about G-motion and motion sensor on dashcams, but as I understands it, this is while the engine is on and does not function when it is off?

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated, thank You.

What you need is a dashcam with Parking mode and G-sensor, even motion detection.

Parking mode means that when you park the car, the dashcam is still on and could capture the video 5 seconds before the crash and 20 seconds after the crash.

The parking mode needs a Battery Discharge Prevention Device to make sure that the dash cam does not discharge your battery and could not start up your car.
