Well known Taiwan brand Flexmedia has top of the range Eagle HD dash camera, which uses Sony Exmor CMOS sensor. This model has been on the market for about 1 year.

Now they are offering same model with connection to OBD II and use of their own external LCD display ( for local market only ).
Unfortunately in this case OBD II connection serves only as an uninterrupted power supply with built in battery discharge prevention function.
Price seems to be very low considering brand name and specifications, only 3380 TWD, approx. 115usd. without external LCD dislplay.

Would be even more interesting if they could use OBD II functions like Lukas-7900 does.

doing 1080p would probably be of more interest to most, a lot of good decisions there and a couple of questionable ones

Yes, few things are questionable,
720p, 100 lens degree diagonal, but for over 1 year old model it can be forgiveness. Question is: are they having plans to develop further and move with demand of the market ?!

Positive things I see in that "old model" are ability to use 128Gb memory, 9-16V power use, -20 + 70 C degree operation,
Can connect 3 additional cameras: reversing, left + right side of the car.

yeah it's good spec aside from the resolution, 720p is still very popular in Taiwan for some reason, not entirely sure why
