Opening the Mini 0826

Has anyone been able to open the 0826?
Initially the teardown is the same as the 0801 and 0803 but I have not been able to open it fully. The ring on the right hand end seems to be firmly attached. I am reluctant to apply too much force on it.

I have figured it out. The center cover plate must be removed first, just like the other end, then you can remove the screws and ring.
Mine was just glued in very well. It took considerable force to lever it out.

My new unit was faulty. It would power up when directly connected but not via the gps base. After negotiation with the supplier, they are providing a replacement for a modest price.
I decided to investigate and found that power was being delivered to the camera from the base so there had to be a problem inside the camera.
Now that a warranty claim was authorised I decided to open the camera.
The 5 volt cable from the mount shoe was disconnected, a broken solder joint. The cable had been installed without enough slack and when the ring was turned it pulled the cable inside the camera.
A quick solder job and it came to life.
