Has anyone noticed their Opia 2 doesn't automatically start recording when they power it up after the firmware 2.5 update? I noticed it only happens once in a while. I haven't seen it happen enough times to find a common denominator but it's getting annoying having to constantly make sure it's ALWAYS recording by checking the red LED or wait to hear the "recording started" audio prompt.

What memory card do you use?

Do you have it hard wired or are your using the power adapter that came with the camera?
Did you format the card in the camera?
VicoVation offers 2 different versions of 2.5 firmware. Maybe try the other version and see if the issue is still there.

Using version 2.5s since I hardwired mine in my car two weeks ago. Has never had any startup hiccups. Goes from parking mode to turning off, then about 5 seconds later turning back on and recording.

did you solve the issue?

did you solve the issue?

Not yet. I am still testing to narrow down where the issue starts. The issue seems random from what I can see. I've only recently started to use the OEM car adapter so I'll let you know after a couple of weeks of turning my car off and on. Previously I was using the two (or three depending on if I wanted a parking mode) products below to power my device.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/B002KL8N6A (USB charging cord)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B01J7FW056 (Car charger adapter)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B016DA61V2 (Power bank)

Ironically, this issue never occurred in the month of testing (turning off the car, turning on the car) when I had it solely powered by the power bank (linked above) the entire month.

Are you saying that when the cam is powered by the power bank then no problem, but now it's powered by the car then the problem arises?

I have this problem too (kingston card), and all version have this issue. Only solution is to keep restarting and/or reformat card. Sad flimsy firmware.

I also have this problem. the camera is hardwired into the car using the Vico Power Plus module. All works fine in parking mode, but when starting the car the camera restarts and keeps restarting, presents the Opia 2 logo screen and the LED remains green all the time.
I'm also using the kingston 128GB class 10 card.

Did anyone ever figure out what was causing this issue? I encountered the same problem, tried the factory power supply, used a logging multimeter on my hardwire output to make sure it was a constant 5v tried multiple firmware versions. Nothing worked for me.

Did any of you find a solution for this? I'm about to purchase an Opia2 but if it's not reliable enough I'll find something else.

Yes. Sold and replaced with A119. Opia2 firmware is unmaintained now, don't bother with that camera.

hmmm but about the A119 I also read that it's not always fully reliable.....

A199 has some problems with park mode and it's not smart enough to start recording if you insert card after power-on.

But it's half the price and always saves the last clip.

So you tell me, where is the money better spent.

Seems like an imaginary problem. A battery wire might be a better idea if you stop/start so often. And I only have A119 (two of them), not the S model which seems like a failed product (worse image quality).
