What does the Panorama G do that the non gps model doesn't?

Yeah but I want to know what the gps does that a panorama without a gps doesn't

The PanoramaG uses the GPS to record the Lat/Long/Time throughout your drive. This info is not only recorded at the end of the MP4 file (used to build maps of your drives in the software Pier28 listed) but your current location and speed is also recorded in the video itself as a bottom data-bar.

This means if you want to post a video to YouTube and you don't want everyone to know where you were, you have to have a video editor to crop that area out or cover it up. And if you want to give the video to the police after an accident but you don't want to show you were going 7MPH too fast then you not only have to do that same video edit as above but you also have to use a HexEditor to edit the MP4 file itself to cut out the GPS coordinates.

I would actually prefer if it didn't add the info to the video itself. Software can provide that if I want it and if I don't, I don't have to use a video editor every time I want to share a video.

You could use Registrator Viewer to save out the bit of footage you want without the metadata which would remove the subtitle stream from the video, and then you could crop that in an editor?

Here's how for anyone wondering.

(Uncheck include GPS data)

And

Also can de-warp wide angle lens.

I run a Mac so I've been using DashCamViewer. But I'll load registration-viewer on my wife's windows machine and try it out.

But it would be nice if there was a firmware setting to include the GPS-bar or not.
And, optimally, keep the GPS data in a separate file from the MP4. Then, in the accident scenario, you just hand the police the video file at the scene of the accident.

I forwarded the same suggestions to the developer a few weeks ago. It's on the future firmware roadmap, but no promises/ETA
