Recently purchased the camera but didn't want to hardwire as my car is still in warranty and didn't want to give VW any cause to refute warranty claim. So I bought a passthrough battery and the cabling is very neat and unobtrusive. I was hoping this solution would support parking mode time lapse. I got one time lapse video of about 20-30 secs duration. It was great but can't get the function working. It was a cheap battery branded as Laptone 5200mAh.
Is this solution likely to succeed and if so has anyone successfully found a reasonably priced passthrough battery? Is my solution not likely to work at all?

Ps very impressed that since I bought the dashcam that other drivers haven't misbehaved around me. Does a dashcam have a calming influence or did I just think poor driving incidents were more frequent. Someone did go off the road in frost a couple of days ago just in front of me. Thankfully driver and his car appeared unmarked as he sped away. Footage on camera was quite boring too.
