DE NIEUWE PIXIO GPS01 DASHBOARDCAMERA
Purchased whilst on vacation in The Netherlands. The cost of the camera and 16GB Transcend class 10 micro SD card was €149.95 but I got a €15 discount using a web voucher so total cost was €134.95 with free delivery.
The sales pitch claims "De Pixio GPS01 dashboardcamera is een verbeterde versie van de wereldwijd populaire GS1000 dashcam", in reality, the GPS01 appears to be a generic GS1000 "blue" menu camera with software version 20130322 but there doesn't appear to be any way to backup the current firmware or flash new firmware using the recommended tips - the seller was contacted on the 28th of May requesting a copy of the current firmware and advice on how to make a back up but still no reply to date).
The camera has a simple blue menu but there is no way to change the date format from YYYY-MM-DD or KPH to MPH in the menu settings, the menu option for driver number contains non standard characters so it is not possible to enter a name or registration number, additionally the date, time, speed and GPS co-ordinates are located at the top left corner of the videos and are often difficult to read during day light use due to the white font color although at night it is easier to read because it is white on black.
The camera arrived in a white box (the seller had pasted "Pixio GPS01" labels printed on a colour inkjet printer over the front cover and side panels) containing the camera, 12v power cord, HDMI cable, USB cable. There was no user manual but a Dutch PDF version can be downloaded from the sellers sites.
Pressing the MODE button for 2 seconds opens the settings menu which has the following options:
Video resolution:
Full HD, 1080p, 720p30, wvga50, vga

50hz, 60hz

Overall the photo quality and day time videos seem to be good, at night the video quality differs dramatically depending on whether there is overhead street lighting or not, when I arrived home at 2 o'clock in the morning I parked about 8 inches behind my neighbours car but when I switched my headlamps off the car in front was not visible on the camera although there is street lighting located to the left of both cars.
Youtube videos showing day and night driving:
Driving to ferry
Boarding ferry
Motorway night driving with overhead lighting
Motorway night driving with no overhead lighting
Parking up outside home - street lighting to the left of cars -
