Power Magic Pro dead after 3 months

I installed my DR650GW-2CH and PMP in January and they have performed flawlessly, up until yesterday. Driving down the road, I suddenly hear the camera say "The BlackVue is now shutting down. "

I have checked all the wiring and fuses and they are okay. My DMM tells me the earth is good, always-on power has 12V, key-on power has 12V when the key is turned to the correct position, camera fires right up when plugged directly into the lighter socket. Has anybody else had this happen to them?

according to a lot of Blackvue dealers in Australia it's very common, I've never really had much to do with the PMP but it seems the failure rate is quite high on them

Crap. Really? I'll have to find an alternative. Any suggestions?

There are a few similar devices on the market, multi safer, Lukas etc, I think there's a link on the main page but I'm on mobile at the moment otherwise I'd look it up for you
