The shown housing is 3D print white, it should be molded black.

I like the look of the discrete Plus model.

What does the side switch do? I assume it is for output on/off to conserve the battery when you don't need to record.
 
Yes the button on the side are just a ON / OFF switch i think, i wish it was a slide switch instead of a press one, but thats also as far as i can go with negative things just looking at the pictures.

Great news! Can you clarify by the method of connecting to the wiring of the car?
If there were several options to choose from - connecting to a cigarette lighter or plug in OBDII would be just fine (although few people use such a connection and while many are very careful about this connection method, but it seems to me very promising)
 
This looks very promising! Good idea for different power connection options for a variety of devices. It looks like the switch on the side is on/off coupled with dip switches for different input/output configurations...interesting
