Rudimentary way to hardwire from a powered rear-view mirror. Would love to get your thoughts and feedback!

1. Crimp d-sub pins to red and black ends of 12v to 5v converter. I don't have tools so used scissors to expose the wire, tweezers to crimp, and electrical tape to secure. There are better ways to do this like using an actual crimper, pliers, or soldering.

2. Insert positive and negative pins into correct sockets of your rear-view mirror connector. I also don't have a voltmeter so found wiring diagram online.

3. Hide converter and excess wire in roof lining and plug mini usb into dash cam. Mine automatically turns on with ignition. I bought the Viofo A119S V2 and mounted right under the rear-view mirror base. Make sure to leave enough room to comfortably remove the cam from its base. The focus of the dash cam itself is questionable so haven't decided if it's a keeper.
