Protected files

Can someone please tell me how to access the protected files on my dashcam. Some idiot smashed into the front of my car, took the bumper and number plate off and drove off. There is a red padlock in the corner of my screen and I have googled and it says this could be protected from the time of the collision, I really need to see these files, please help xx thank you xx

Plug the card into your computer and any player should be able to view them. They will usually be located in the RO folder on the card.

RO means "read only" which means these files cannot be erased or written over accidentally and this is a desirable feature to have on a dash cam for obvious reasons. At some point, you may need or wish to erase these RO files and the procedure for unlocking these files so you can do so is a bit different depending upon which computer operating system you use. A bit of online searching will help you learn how to delete these files from your computer when the time comes.
