Hello guys! I'm new to dash cams so excuse my ignorance please. I drive a Toyota Tacoma (2009) and have been researching dash cams. I'm pretty sure the SG9665GC is the one I plan to buy. With that in mind I have a couple questions...

-Do these have a parking mode at all? I know they aren't buffered but just wondering if they would record a front hit and run while away from my truck.

-My front windshield has a 50% tint on it. Will this mess with the cam quality at all?

-What do I need to purchase with the cam to do a professional hardwired installation? Any recommendations appreciated!

-Do you guys think anyone will run a Black Friday type sale on these at all?

-What is the largest SD card I can buy that will work with this cam?

Thanks in advance!

Some customers leave it record 24/7 but that will punish the memory card faster. If you are going to go that route I'd get a bigger 64GB card and the higher quality Lexar 633x MLC based one. (Avoid SanDisk) 128GB works if you manually format it FAT32 via special utility program I can provide. Official native 128GB microSD support is potentially coming pending a Novatek SDK update we can utilize. You can change the EV to compensate for tint. It has pause/resume motion detection but better to just leave it record.

Our best pre-buffered motion detection product for use with parking mode is the SGZC12SS/SGZC12SG/SGZC12RC
(No EV control though) use up to 512GB full size SD cards. There will be a huge Black Friday sale on the SGZC12SS

You'll also need a battery discharge prevention kit such as the PANOBDP Motopark Multi Safer

Thanks for the fast response!

-Will I need one of these? https://shop.pier28.com/index.php/accessories/cpl-for-sg9665gc-circular-polarizing-lens.html

-Can you post a link to a 128 card that you would recommend for this cam if I use the program you mentioned?

-How many hours can I record one the 128 card with HD quality?

-Recording 24/7 sounds fine to me. If I do that, about how long would the cam typically record with the PANOBDP Motopark Multi Safer?

Thanks again!

If you want to have results like the following, then the SGGCCPL is for you.

For 128GB, the Lexar and PNY ones are testing good so far (see Amazon) I'd avoid Sandisk & Samsung Evo.

The Battery Discharge Prevention all depends how big your battery is, and how often you drive. (plus settings you choose, and temps outside) The Camera uses about the power equivalent of a small globe light bulb found in the glove box of old cars. (so imagine having that on 24/7)

AT 15Mbs it should be 9 hours according to the calculator:

I don't see any night picture comparisons with and without the polarized lens. Does it lower the video quality at night?

Question here- is that 50% front windshield tint factory? Just curious because I thought tinting the windshield was illegal in all 50 states.

I'd hate to be driving at night time with a 50% tinted front window.

Yes it's illegal and I do not have a medical exemption. Keep in mind the tint is very light even though 50% sounds dark. It basically just cuts down the glare.

Can't tell a difference. It's not very dark. I have some very bright lights I can throw on. :)

the challenge with some of the tints is they have a UV cut to them which can have some impact and some can add a bit of distortion, if it's a good quality tint like 3M is usually ok though

Do I need something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00I0MWPXU
I'm about to put my order in for the
SG9665GC , CPL, and the
MotoPark Multi Safer

If you want to hard wire and that is your fuse size, that's a good option.

CPL USA stock just sold out. More are on the way. Only a few USA SG9665GC stock left and they will be on back order by tomorrow as well.

hmmm....I'm going to take my order to my friend that owns a large audio/video store that installs this type of thing. Dumb question but how do I know what fuse size https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00I0MWPXU to take him. I want to bring him all of the pieces and parts he needs to do the install.

Thanks!

About to order on Amazon...is that the best way to avoid back order?
