I want to install mini0906 in Subaru Outback 2015. In the internet I found a lot of information regarding safe cable routing in A pillar but I haven't found too much about rear cable routing in headliner. I was wandering if pushing cable inside will inhibit side curtain airbag to deploy (Somebody recommended to just push cable as far as possible to avoid problems).
I was wandering how would you recommend installing rear cable with car equipped with side curtains? (I would like to avoid removing headliner)
Would you push cable to headliner or it is better to buy longer cable and route it on the floor?

I found in the internet the picture of the Outback without headliner and I would say that pushing cable as far as possible with trim removal tool should be sufficient but it would be great to hear your opinion.

You can buy or make a flexabile fiberglass "fish tape" (like a fishing rod) which allows good control of routing. In the pic above where the roof braces meet the side has a nice gap above the airbags which should work. Also the side beams are hollow inside and are often used to route factory wiring. There is often a hole in the "A" pillar to access the area; how accessible the rear is varies. You could also route across the top center of the headliner; with both ends secured there wouldn't be enough "slack" in the cable to get near the airbags. Those methods might require partial headliner removal but might work good enough. Alternately you could route down under the door sills although this usually takes a considerably long cable. You could also consider paying an auto interior specialist to assist in removing/replacing the headliner while you (or them) run the cable safely.

Sometimes there is no easy solution to a problem but so long as there is a workable solution you can still get what you want with a little more effort.

Thanks for answer Phil!
I am planing to remove A pillar cover maybe it will reveal some cable routing to me.
Are you thinkig about this kind of flexabile fiberglass "fish tape" tool:

As long as you don't route a cable in front of the airbag you should be fine, above or behind it should be fine from a safety standpoint.

Yes the tool in your picture should be good for fishing wires in a car.

@kamkar1 thanks!
I have one more concern with my hardwire hit with battery protection so I checked how much current it uses and when camera is on I can see ~300mA but when voltage drops below threshold and camera is off it still draws 13mA.
Should it work like that, or something is wrong?
