The max recording resolution is 2560×1440 but the sensor size is 1936x1097 Does this mean it's upscaled? Or am I missing something? If so, then 1080@60 would be the optimal setting for these cams and a bit disappointing too.

1080p30 will probably give the best result

Why 30? Please don't tell me it doesn't record true 60fps as well. So glad I never paid retail price for this, I got it factory refurbished. Even at £90 it's starting to look expensive.

because 30fps will do better in low light situations, overall it gives a better result

Ok, I think I understand you - lower apperture speed = more light?

I've just had a look in the firmware and there are references to 3 sensors with an Ambarella A12 SoC:
  1. Sony IMX206 - 4:3 - 4672x3500
  2. OmniVision OV2718 - 16:9 - 1920x1080
  3. OmniVision OV4689 - 16:9 - 2560x1440
The FCC teardown shows a 16:9 sensor so it's 2 or 3 - there are more references to the OV2718 in the firmware than the other two.

If it's number 2 they're upscaling, if it's number 3 then it can do it natively.

Nextbase should be able to advise what is in there for sure but if their manual is correct then it's the OV2718.

Thanks. Very disappointing.
