The max recording resolution is 2560×1440 but the sensor size is 1936x1097 Does this mean it's upscaled? Or am I missing something? If so, then 1080@60 would be the optimal setting for these cams and a bit disappointing too.
1080p30 will probably give the best resultThe max recording resolution is 2560×1440 but the sensor size is 1936x1097 Does this mean it's upscaled? Or am I missing something? If so, then 1080@60 would be the optimal setting for these cams and a bit disappointing too.
because 30fps will do better in low light situations, overall it gives a better resultWhy 30? Please don't tell me it doesn't record true 60fps as well. So glad I never paid retail price for this, I got it factory refurbished. Even at £90 it's starting to look expensive.
Right, but only for no motion in frame.30fps will do better in low light situations
I've just had a look in the firmware and there are references to 3 sensors with an Ambarella A12 SoC:
The FCC teardown shows a 16:9 sensor so it's 2 or 3 - there are more references to the OV2718 in the firmware than the other two.
- Sony IMX206 - 4:3 - 4672x3500
- OmniVision OV2718 - 16:9 - 1920x1080
- OmniVision OV4689 - 16:9 - 2560x1440
If it's number 2 they're upscaling, if it's number 3 then it can do it natively.
Nextbase should be able to advise what is in there for sure but if their manual is correct then it's the OV2718.
