If you use the multiplexer to use 5 cameras, can you set it to use less when parked, to extend the battery life?

yes you can use energy saving mode

The Thinkware MB-100 multiplexer is connected to its own constant battery power source (and of course ground). The MB-100 determines when to power the two to four cameras attached to the MB-100 by sensing when the front camera that it's connected to sends power to the front camera's "rear" camera port.
