Dashcam is not a new player but the interesting one, thanks for a reasonable price, good TXX and overall well made quality.

Matte back body and double-sided tape mounting is the best option to be invisible outside.

Xiaomi MiJia based on Sony EXMOR IMX323. That is a good step forward after the previous model Xiaomi Yi Car which was rubbish.

The sensor is a newcomer from Sony this year. And despite of a previos IMX322 model sony knows this new one and also has some details on their our portal http://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/products_en/new_pro/november_2015/imx323lqn_e.html

imx291-imx122-imx323.jpg

Spec looks good and slightly better than the previous remarkable IMX122:

Dynamic range: IMX122/IMX322 = 100db; IMX323 = n/a, IMX291 = 130db
Snr: IMX122/IMX322 = 54db; IMX323 = 52db, IMX291 = 46db
Sensitivity: IMX122/IMX322 = 425mV; IMX323 = 510mV, IMX291 = 1300mV

Yes, it is not so impressive like top level IMX291. Just a bit better than the 5 yeas old precedent.

Lens are not the best on the market. Just а F1.8, and that is a but dark comparing with F1.6 rivals. But actually acceptable thanks for sensitive sony's sensor.

Very close and almost not possible to find a winner here.

The only DP220 is a bit blurred as usual. Thus for the double resize of AR0330.
Looks like lens are very good across all the team and even 60fps in a119s does not show any better details.

Yep. The imx291 it the best and TTX says truth.
And IMX323 is not worse and shows exactly the same picture like the IMX122. But it should be a bit better, which is actually not.

Also I'd like to mention the benefit on the high sensitivity + 60fps at night.
Yes it is good for Viofo which is based on IMX291 and support 1080p*60fps, but lets compare with Xiaomi MiJia and 1080p*30fps. Does Viofo have any benefits for higher FPS?

The Xiaomi MiJia and Panorama P2 have to film in a slow 1/30sec to get details in darkness. But the A119s is able to do the same on a 1/60sec and film in a 60fps + twice wider DD

As a result we have more details:night4_a119s.jpg night4_dp220.jpg night4_p2.jpg night4_xiaomi.jpg

The number plates are absolutely clear readable on a Viofo.

Xiaomi MiJia, DP220 and Panorama2 shows overexposed and not readable picture. The quality is the same for both IMX122 and IMX322 and AR0330. They works just on the limit of the 1080p*30fps mode.

And it is the difference here.

Xiaomi MiJia actually making its best here. The IMX291 is another league.

Final Conclusions:

Xiaomi MiJia is a very price reasonable dashcam. Average day picture and good at night thanks for Sony's sensor. Much more better than overpriced trendvisions or other OV4689's based DVRs which are completely dark at night.
Mic is a bit noisy and china-only menu interface - thats the only problems found.

The new gadget Xiaomi was the worst...
Sensor Aptina AR0230 in the previous version is 10 times better than the truncated version 323...
