More than I can review. ;)
Rexing sent this camera for review. Thank you Eric.
Rexing is already selling dashcams in China but is new in US market.

The F9 is based on NT96650 chip and here is the product link:
http://www.rexingusa.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50

While dashcams with that chip came out long time ago (G1W, G1WH and their thousands of versions), this F9 is not the same in terms of quality.
First look at the F9 reveals excellent build quality compared to the generic G1WX versions.
The front half is glossy black and back half is rubberized plastic type material.
Unlike generic G1W that feels cheap, F9 feels like high end dashcam housing.
Very solid feel on the case as well as on the buttons.
There are more dedicated buttons in F9 than G1WH and also they all are on the back unlike some on the top and some on the back in G1WH (that is hard to access while driving or behind the rear view).
Plus, the buttons light up, with different colors, not bright but nice... :D.
Think of F9 as upgraded or better brand's G1WH.

Here are some pictures of the product:
Box:
The box is generic but has a sticker/label that designates it's Rexing F9 model.

DSC01898-small[1].jpg

Note: The picture shows lack of packing materials but this is because the dashcam was opened for testing and packing materials were removed.
The packing is very good on new units. I have another model that has very good/tight packing.

Oh btw, the user manual is very good.
It's 20 pages on glossy paper with details on all the settings unlike G1W's 2 page manual that looks like a kid's work. ;)
DSC01900-small.jpg
All contents out:
This is good that Rexing provides the usual suction cup mount as well as 3M adhesive mount.
Nice!
DSC01901-small.jpg

Lighted and dedicated buttons: Very useful at night to press buttons in dark.
Left side of the LCD has power, REC and menu buttons.
REC also acts as OK in menu settings.
Right side of the LCD has Event/Incident, MIC and mode buttons.
There is a dedicated Event/Incident button that protects the video file and acts as up button when in Menu settings.
Mic button to turn on or off microphone. This is much better than remembering which other function button to press to mute/unmute. It also acts as down button when in Menu settings.

If you remember G1Wx's layout, power and ok buttons are on the top next to the mount that is very hard to press as you have to feel. I many times have turned off the G1WH when pressing okay as I pressed power button instead since they are on top and have to feel and press.

In F9, there is no confusion. All buttons are on the back and properly labeled.

DSC01905-small.jpg

It's pretty wide just like G1WH (maybe slightly wider).
Side by side with dome G90:
DSC01906-small.jpg

Only mount hole on the top.
Very clean looking.
DSC01907-small.jpg

Right side looking from back:
It has AV out, mini USB and GPS port.
The unit I got didn't come with GPS module and I don't have one to test but if it really has GPS capability, that is a huge plus.
DSC01908-small.jpg

Left side looking from back has mini HDMI and microSD card slots:

DSC01910-small.jpg

Front with suction mount:
DSC01911-small.jpg

Browsing through some Menu settings:
Pretty similar with loop, motion detection, exposure, WDR etc...

So it looks good and feels like it's upper end NT96650 dashcam but how does it perform as far as video and audio quality?
That's the real test...

More than I can review. ;)
File size for 3 minute clip is around 288mb and bit rate is around 13mbps.
I'm not sure if Shadow GT and other firmwares that work on G1WH works on F9 or not to increase VBR and add some features. Hmmm...

Video quality is very good.
It's sharp in all areas. Signboards, license plates in the corners are sharp and clear.

Few screenshots below:

The signboards on the bus stop in right corner are easy to read even with some dash reflection.

Considering the build and video quality, it's nice and that means it shouldn't have quality issues like generic G1Wx so less chance of returns.

The problem with G1W based products is there's good ones and bad ones and no way for the end user to easily know which is which, if someone is willing to put their name on something and stand behind it then it's easily worth a premium, their price is very reasonable anyway

Yes that's true.
I've few versions of G1W/G1WH and this Rexing F9 is so far the best in terms of build quality.
Looks like a well made dashcam that in turn means quality checks are better so less chance of getting ones with issues like in other versions of G1Wx.

Hi,
When using the adhesive mount, is it possible to turn the cam sideways, so that it doesn't point exactly perpendicular to the windshield?
Does it work with battery or capacitor?

It does not look that way from the pictures for either mount. Looks like the mount only goes back and forth. It is a nice and compact looking mount though .

The lighted buttons look interesting as well.

They only thing that puts me off slightly from what you have shown is the silver lens barrel and the reflective lettering.
Great write up though.

Edit: Sticky mount moves back and forth as well as left to right.

There are ball joint mounts that works with G1WH so may work with F9 and allows to pan.

The silver lens barrel is easy to make black easily by spray paint or even better with shrink tube:

or our old friend, black electrical tape...

According to you guys advise, we decide use dark lens barrel, here is the photo of US version Rexing G1W, and I will post US version F9 soon. wish you guys like this change.

Looks good.
Much better than spraying black paint. :)

From all the G1W versions that are out in the market, a lot of them don't have good quality control.
I have/had few of them and one have soft focus in one area while others had issues with car charger.

So that's one area (QC) you have to double check to minimize issues and returns.

The only other thing I would suggest is to move your logo to the back or top of the case. The whole idea is to make the cam as invisible as possible. The logo might be noticed from someone in front of the car.

Yes, I suggested them engraving brand name in black is better that can be on the front face and not noticeable plus getting rid of the infrared led as it's of no use.

Brand name/model still can be printed out of the way, for example, on the back next to LCD.

Or even on the front face engraved black on black like this one:

that's not actually engraved (just the wrong terminology but I know what you meant), to do this would require a new mold, at the cost of tooling it's never going to happen on a public model product, printed on the back is fine, I don't think most would object, personally I don't like to print anything, the camera has a display and we can easily have our logo on there anyway
