Screen freeze issue on 2.4 firmware

Mine just did this same thing last night, after over a year of trouble-free use. In reading this post, I updated the firmware, and all is good again...

So much this. Resetting the unit to default settings does not prevent this.
In my previous post, I did not mean to imply that defaulting the settings (if you can get into the menu with no card installed) permanently fixes the problem. It is a temporary fix just like reloading the firmware seems to be, but easier. I hope people continue to report these problems and if they try the shortcut fix, report whether or not it worked for them. Thanks for the feedback.

I believe that the manufacturer (Viofo) would rather reconsider what "Reset" (by pin) function should do: not just soft-reset the unit (which is of low use taking into account regular usage practice), but rather reset it to factory settings if this would clear frosen screen bug without the necessity to re-apply FW.

And updated FW to 2.4 and alll is good

I got this the other day on my A119S running FW 2.4. Bah. Reset with firmware re-load did the trick.

My A119S has been doing the exact same thing as everyone else's
Just like that picture in the first post
The only fix is to insert another SD card with firmware on it and do a reflash

I'm using a Lexar high endurance 64GB card

This cameras had pretty much everything go wrong
V1 GPS mount went bad, they sent me the pads, didn't fix it
CPL is a loose fit, fell off and got lost, $15 down the drain
Constant freezes and corrupt video files

I can't really trust it anymore to get an accident or critical moment

I've been interested in the A129, but I'm waiting to see if the reliability is better

I did email them about my cameras issues, and they offered me to ship it back to China for $55, or a $10 discount off a new A129

I really think all these cameras need is a firmware update to make them good again

It shoots excellent video, I just can't count on it

I feel the same way.

From another thread, Viofo.pl now has FW2.6 available. I did a Google translate on the page, but unfortunately they don't have a changelogs on the Polish site. http://viofo.pl/oprogramowanie-do-kamer

Since my cam on FW2.4 is currently working (but for how long????), I'll wait until they post FW2.6 to the main Viofo.com website, because I'd like to see the changelog. My fingers are crossed that it'll finally fix this issue...

What memory card are you using?
I had exactly the same screen like in the first post 2-3 weeks ago on my both A119 cameras I mentioned it on A119 forum and I used Transcend Ultimate 64gb cards with 1080H@60fps. now I switched to 1440P.

I have with my A119S more than 40 000 miles. Not even one single issue!
I'm with you.
I’ve had my A119S since Aug 2017 and no issues.
I upgraded my FW to 2.4 2018 and no issues.
It’s been in temps as low as -24C in DEC and as high as +35C in JULY.
Works very well and meets all my criteria.
I recommend the above to anyone.

FW 2.6 came out a few days ago - you should update to it even if you hadn't had an issue before - my issue occurred randomly. I was also super happy to see a delay boot added to the firmware as it allowed me to disconnect the relay delay I had on the vehicles.

I just went to the Viofo Support for FW site and this is the message that came up on my computer.

Of course you wait, PC will suddenly break.:eek:
Google Chrome is also unsafe,
checked, everything works.(y)

Viofo probably just hasn't migrated their firmware page to the https standard. Their main page is fine. Updates to Chrome/Firefox/etc will point this out now.

If you're actually freaked, you can still get the firmware through their community forum. (Support > Community > A119/A119S/A119 Pro)

This link: https://www.viofo.com/community/index.php?forums/a119-a119s-a119-pro.28/

I also noticed their main page was fine.
However, when I went to download the 2.6 FW in Support that notice came up.
I let Viofo know what happened and we'll see what they'll do.
I checked the link you gave , it appears ok.
Thank you for your response.
