This is a video compilationof the toughest spots on the most challenging drive of our summer trip! The hills were very nearly too much for my festiva pulling the almost 2000 pound trailer. The cabot trail in nova scotia is 300km long. The first part of this video is the first big hill, then next is the second big hill that i actually started to think i wasnt going to make it up. Then there is the downhill where I overheated my brakes. Then another challenging hill for different reasons than steepness. Then some nice scenery, playing in the ocean and some photos at the end. Its a very scenic drive but i didnt include much scenery to try and keep it shorter. Watching these videos the hills dont look so steep, but in real life they are incredible! Main problem for me was i couldnt get any speed before the bottom of the hills and the speed limit on all these was 50kmh (30mph). Hardly any airflow over the radiator and it was pretty hot out. It was a fun but very challenging drive! There was almost no one else out with pickups and trailers or rv's. Almost all passenger cars and trucks which was the complete opposite from the rest of Nova Scotia. I mounted the rear camera facing forward since all you could see out the back was the trailer...

Here are some screenshots from the video

Nice vid :) but you're killing that car. Hope you've got an oil cooler and are running synthetic oil ;)

Phil

The steepest road here are Christian winters road in the town of Vejle, its MAX gradient are 25.5% but its average gradient are just 10.6 % and its 730 M long

Map of steep roads here.

If you like to push pedals Denmark are the place to do it if you don't like hills, what we do have here and call hills, well in the broader perspective its just a divot compared to countries that have hills / mountains.

Yeah Beat Denmark with both hands tied on the back.

For sure, that drive was amazing, so beautiful. Maybe i will upload some more scenery dashcam videos at some point. Driving all across the country there were some amazing spots!

Yup, that trip was hard on it. I had synthetic oil and 25% more oil capacity than stock but didnt need a cooler. This engine is fairly unusual in that the oil doesnt get hotter than the coolant, they transfer heat fairly well somehow internally. Ive never driven anything else that was like that. So I concentrated on making sure the coolant could stay cool :) The hottest the oil ever got was 245f- same as my coolant was at that point. Thats the hottest it ever got up one very, very long and steep hill in the Yukon.

Not a place i would learn to drive a automatic, cuz all i know is D make it go forward and R make it go backwards and P you use when you park.
I have only driven 2 - 3 miles in a AUT car, but the rental truck we got when my friend moved was a AUT too, so i just had to deal with that, which was pretty easy.

I think 1080x1920 are the largest you can upload, and i think there are a max number you can do in one post.
1080p frame grabs from dashcam footage i have uploaded no problem.

Here are those photos i mentioned! I finally figured out the uploading :)
