Dear DCT friends,

Does anyone hardwire it?

If yes, do you have any recommendations on hardwire kit and camera settings?

Thank you,

It's funny you ask I was just creating a new thread but I'll just post here. (talk about perfect timing)

CPUSB01 Cell Power/Street Guardian miniUSB Hard Wire Kit with BDP low voltage cut-off is now available.

(Cell Power is @jokiin's other company by the way)

Just a silly question

What is the different between the one above and this one

https://shop.pier28.com/index.php/accessories/panobdp-hard-wire-kit.html

Off the top of my head..... (I'm sure others can chime in with more)

The PANOBDP will work if you insert the included SG9665GC cigarette power adapter into the female cigarette power port included with the PANOBDP. PANOBDP has user selectable power cut off dip switches and requires 3-wire power (ACC switched, BAT constant, and ground)

The CPUSB01 does the 12v to 5v conversion with a built in miniUSB plug so you don't use the SG9665GC cigarette power adapter. It's also 2-wire power so you choose if you want it powered via ACC switched or BAT constant) Slightly easier to install, takes up less room, and you don't have to use up the cigarette power cord in case you want to use the SG in another car etc

jokiin, can you create another one of these with a good timer on it with good increments e.g 1,2,3,6,9,12,18,24 something like that?

Soo, how would I hardwire it? Just run my cables like I currently have them, but instead of going into cigarette lighter, go to my fuse box and....

Correct. You'll need to buy an add-a-fuse pigtail that fits your fuse size to connect the wires to your fuse box. Autozone or O'Reillys, or online check amazon etc.

Why cant I just cut the cigarette lighter power cord off and then run a fuse pigtail at the end of the exposed wires to the fusebox?? Or is the stepdown box necessary?

You need a 12v to 5v converter in there somewhere. If you did that you be putting 12v into a 5v device and fry it.

then bye bye cam and warranty as the cam wont work any more if you let the smoke out of it. it needs the smoke inside of it to work properly.

Buy a female lighter socket, connect that to your fusebox and plug the included adapter in, very simple and won't give you any warranty hassles

Looks like you need more cameras, I see some empty window there ;)

What do your traffic management colleagues think about the cameras?
I am trying to set my car up where I can test 3 cams at the same time without needing to disable my dr650/550 but also have it relatively hidden. Got several projects I haven't talked about or shown yet. ;)

I haven't talked much about it to most of them haha. The guy I share a cubicle with is very interested in getting one though.

Im hoping to have a video on hard wiring the SG with the cellpower kit, pier28 was kind enough to send for my testing/review.

Awesome. I wanted to get mine hardwired but don't have a clue how to go about it.
